The breathtaking St. Johns bridge in north Portland spans the Willamette River, and connects the Cathedral Park neighborhood with the Linnton and Northwest Industrial neighborhoods in Northwest Portland. It is the only suspension bridge in the Willamette Valley and one of three public highway suspension bridges in Oregon.

One of our vendors in this area is Bees and Beans, a beloved small business that puts a new twist on classic candy bars. Our favorite at MIO is the Honey Bar!

In the town of Oceanside, Oregon lies a hidden gem that has to be seen to be believed. This place is Tunnel Beach, a man-made tunnel carved into the towering basalt coastal wall.

Upon exiting the tunnel, you are greeted by a breathtaking view of the beach and Three Arch Rocks National wildlife refuge.

Bring a bucket, as this is also one of the best agate hunting sites on the Pacific coast. The best time to see this place is at low tide, so plan carefully for the best experience.
We headed out early on a Saturday morning with some hot tea in our Hydro-Flasks and our favorite Pendleton blanket to keep warm in the frigid morning air.

Once we took in all the beach had to offer, I was able to sit for a moment and write in my journal. There is something uniquely beautiful about our coastline, and each mile seems to offer something different.
