Heritages Dairy stores began in 1930, with Harold H Heritage, who we call “Grandpop Skeets.” During the Great Depression, with only one cow, Grandpop Skeets delivered milk to family, friends and neighbors in the Thorofare and Woodbury areas. In 1936, he purchased a small milk delivery route, and with his commitment to quality and freshness Grandpop Skeets grew the business, eventually selling 150-

200 quarts per day. was formed because Grandpop Skeets saw a decrease in the home delivery of milk. This decline led to the creation of the first Heritages Dairy Store, making Heritages a pioneer of convenience stores in New Jersey. Heritage’s was the first store to sell milk in gallon jugs in New Jersey, and to this day provides the sweetest, freshest milk to our guests using the same unique recipe. Today Heritages is still a family run business committed to the same values as when it was founded, and currently operates 33 store locations around the South Jersey area.

Last week we celebrated 40 years with Gretchen!

"When I started with Heritage's in 1984 -as a Team Member at the Paulsboro Store- milk was $1.89, and stores took personal checks! We had a dress uniform. I always wore leg warmers and a headband because I also taught aerobics!

One time I scheduled a vacation several weeks in advance. Everyone gave me weird looks when I showed up to work that week forgetting I was supposed to be on Vacation!"

"The reason I come to work: My People, they are my inspiration, they are my reason- their success is my success. I have worked with a great team for these 40+ years- it's home!"

Favorite Items: "not Slush Puppies or the Godfather...I have always loved a Turkey and Provolone Sub! I use our Chocolate Milk to make a mean Frosty at home."
