Temple Food Mart was founded by Arthur Skiathitis, Sr. several decades ago and is located at 121 Baker Street in Manchester. Years after opening the grocery business, he married Julienne Fleurinda Thibodeau. As the decades moved onward, Julienne became sort of a Matriarch at the store. She was known as "Mrs. Maple" at a local Dunkin Donuts she would frequently go to, for her Frenchness and love of Maple.

The month of August is bittersweet, as Julienne was born and also passed away during this month. A small carvout in the store memorializing her spirit and good nature is "Julienne's Maple Nook." Please try some great NH Made Maple products this fall and winter. This year marks the 86th Anniversary since the stores' original opening. Help make this an even greater 8th year for the store since reopening in 2017. Thank you in advance.

Anyone know this man? Temple Food Mart is looking to identify him. He came into the store today, and if you know who he is, please inform. He knows what he did and surveillance cameras know too. He needs to return to the store urgently. He has a wheezing, hard time breathing thing going on. The police have already been noticed on the situation, but Facebook often helps. INDEPENDENCE DAY... The following photo depicts a hand stitched leather US Flag patch, property of Arthur Skiathitis, Sr., from WWII. This patch was likely stitched to either the inside or the back of his leather flight jacket. It may qualify as a Blood Chit, used to identify a US soldier if encountered by a citizen on foreign soil during the war.

This shows one small piece of why we are all here today... Soldiers past and present fighting for our Independence, and fighting for something that is not free... Freedom. Please remember their sacrifices when celebrating July 4th.

Arthur Skiathitis, Sr. (Founder of Temple Food Mart in Manchester), along with a team of enlisted citizens, went off to serve this great country, by engaging in a fight for America, and the world during WWII in 1942. Temple Food Mart recently celebrated the 86th Anniversary since the store's Original Opening in 1938.

Temple Food Mart's former owner, Arthur Skiathitis, Sr., in 1938, at 20 years of age, founded "Arthur's Temple Grocery" store. After returning from service in WWII, the store later moved across the street, and opened in 1948. The name changed sometime thereafter to "Temple Food Mart," as it is still known today. The photograph below illustrates Arthur, Sr. was a family dad, but could also be father-like to others, as he is imparting certain wisdom to my cousin Chris Skiathitis. Arthur Sr. passed away in 1997.

The store is still in the family and operated by the last of 7 children... Mark. Please visit and show your local support for this little old store, located at 121 Baker Street in Manchester. The store celebrated its 86-Year original opening this past March 25th. Please help make this a greater 8th year since re-opening in 2017. Happy Father's Day. 80 years ago today, in the morning hours of June 6th, 1944, the United States, along with several other countries (Allied Forces) attacked the German occupied territory of Normandy, France.

We know this as D-DAY, and the most widely known visions are the Beach battles. This event was a turning point in the war, and after much bloodshed, the German forces surrendered less than a year later.

In 1942, Arthur Skiathitis, Sr., Founder of Temple Food Mart in Manchester, was deployed overseas to Indo-China, the Burma campaign. Here, he served behind Japanese enemy lines, the very enemy that attacked the U.S., gathering intelligence for the Office Of Strategic Services, today known as the CIA.

There are very few WWII soldiers alive today, so if anyone is fortunate enough to know someone who served in WWII, praise and honor their service, as they are a special class of people... The greatest generation.

Pictured below, with his team of American Patriots, is my Uncle Charlie Skiathitis, center right of the mock severed head of Adolph Hi**er. He served overseas during the war.

Please share this post so we can always remember, and never forget (as many so often do). Please Instagram and Follow & Share on Facebook and help make this a greater 86th year since since Temple Food Mart's original opening in 1938, and 8th year since it re-opened in March of 2017.

MEMORIAL DAY... Please remember the Spirit of this great day... The servicemen and servicewomen no longer with us who served for the freedoms of America. Thank every surviving former or current service person if you have the chance, even beyond the holiday.

Representing the US Army during WWII, and the founder of Temple Food Mart, is the late Arthur Skiathitis, Sr. Arthur Sr. (SKI) eventually went from Aviation training in San Angelo, Texas, then trained as a paratrooper to ultimately land behind enemy Japanese lines overseas for the O.S.S. (Office of Strategic Services). Today, this entity is known as the CIA.

He was dispatched to what is known as the Burma Campaign, Indo-China. Through an interpreter, with the aid of Chinese Guerilla fighters, known as the "Kachin" Rangers, Arthur Sr. and his platoon would gather Japanese intelligence. The "Kachin" were necessary, as they knew the foreign terrain to be navigated.

Pictured below is Arthur Sr., (far left) side by side with Men of 43-C, 308th ARMY AIR FORCES FLYING TRAINING DETACHMENT, from a resource book called 'The Plane Wrangler.' Grandma and Grandpa Skiathitis were fortunate that their son (both sons) returned from service, whereas so many families never saw loved ones again.

If given the chance, please stop by and view a private Memorial displayed at Temple Food Mart depicting a small sample of Arthur Sr.s' military memorabilia. Among many items to see, are his marching gloves and hat and his burial flag presented at his funeral to his loving wife, Julienne.

Of note to view, a book written in 1963, "BEHIND THE BURMA ROAD," and tells "The heroic, bloody, true story of the tiny OSS Guerilla force that out-fought the Japanese army..." The book talks about the "fierce excitement of 'The Bridge Over The River Kwai.'"

Also of note to view, an American Legion Resolution presented after Arthur Sr.s death, and partially reads as follows; "...WHILE EVER CHERISHING IN OUR HEARTS THE MEMORY OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY..."

This is Temple Food Mart's 8th Memorial Day since re-opening in 2017, in reverence to all of the fallen soldiers. Earlier this year, Temple Food Mart celebrated 86 years since the store originally opened in 1938. Please help make this an even better 86th year at the store. 40 years ago on this day, the Union Leader captured devoted Central High School Baseball supporters at Gill Stadium. Seated in the upper left of the picture, in his classic Greek fisherman cap, is the founder of Temple Food Mart, Arthur Skiathitis, Sr., casually watching his son Mark, as a team member of the Little Green, versus Memorial. GREEK EASTER is upon us. On March 25th, Greek Independence Day, Temple Food Mart celebrated its 86-Year original store opening Anniversary. This Grocery business and local landmark originally opened in 1938 by Arthur Skiathits, Sr., the first son of the Skiathits Grandparents. He was 20 years old.

Shortly after arriving in America in 1907, the Skiathits grandparents operated a Pig and Chicken farm in the local Manchester area. Two other siblings were also born, (Aunt) Hazel and (Uncle) Charlie around the same time as Arthur, Sr. All three worked the store.

Before Temple Food Mart was built, the original store, "Arthur's Temple Grocery," was in operation in the little building that still stands across the street from the store we all know today. It was about 10 years later in 1948 when the new location opened.

Even if you're not Greek, you can still experience the taste of classic Spinach Pita and Baklava, selling at Temple Food Mart (on 121 Baker Street in Manchester). This is the 8th Greek Easter since the Re-opening of the store in 2017.

Pictured below is Apostolos and Helen Skiathitis - my grandparents. They were married on January 13th, 1907. They left their native Greece 9 months later, and on September 13th, 1907, arrived at Ellis Island - AMERICA! Because of these amazing people, Temple Food Mart stands here today. Help make this a great 86th year. Please Instagram, and Follow & Share on Facebook at Temple Food Mart.

CELEBRATE again! 86 years ago, in 1938, Arthur Skiathitis, Sr. entered into the Grocery Business, naming his original store ARTHUR'S TEMPLE GROCERY. The name changed sometime thereafter to what it is known to be presently. This March 25th will commemorate the long ago anniversary year. Please stop by to visit.

7 years ago today, at 7:30pm on Greek Independence Day, the boards on the windows and doors were removed and sunlight once again shined inside of TEMPLE FOOD MART, re-opening after a long time-out. I want to thank everyone that has helped slowly bring this venerable store back to its feet.

There have been growing pains in re-establishing such an endeavor. There's still a long way to go, but with your continued patronage, the store will grow even more and continue to evolve.

Please come by for some classic Greek Spanikopita (Spinach Pie) and sweet Baklava. So good! Our Wine selection has grown, including our popular MIMOSA bottles, our Sweet BELLINI bottles, and the crazy BUZZBALLZ, which are selling right here.

We are extremely proud and privileged to sell NH's own SUMMIT WINE, artfully created with passion and ingenuity. Craft Beers have become a steady part of this new look bodega, so to say. NH Made products will continue to grow as a staple of products to be carried. The original and one of a kind WICK-IT COOL SOY MASSAGE CANDLES are back.

In this 7th year, Temple Food Mart continued to bring you our foundational traditions of an indoor Pumpkin Patch, Trick Or Treat, Christmas Trees, Valentine Roses and more. Please say hello if you have not yet come into the store or if it has been some time since your last visit.

I ask that you continue to shop here and I will deliver what I can for you. Help make this a great 86th year, and 8th year since re-opening. The store is located on 121 Baker Street in Manchester (corner of Calef Road & Baker Street). My sincerest thanks, Mark Skiathitis.

Pictured is the founder, and my father, Arthur Skiathitis, Sr., pointing the way, from an original photo taken in the late 1930's or early 1940's during an apparent picture promotion day. Please Instagram, and follow & share on Facebook at Temple Food Mart.

86 years ago in 1938, at the age of 20 years old, Arthur Skiathitis, Sr. founded a local grocery business called "Arthur's Temple Grocery." Years later, the store name changed and is currently known as "Temple Food Mart" located at 121 Baker Street in Manchester.

As January passes by, the month is bittersweet as Arthur Sr. was born and also passed away during this month. The store was closed for over a decade and re-opened in March of 2017, 20 years after his death.

Since the completion of the store's 6th year re-opening, it is appropriate to recognize this man, the proprietor, husband, father of 7, and WWII veteran. Please stop by and pay a visit to see the history throughout the store.

You're welcome to shop or just say hello to the new proprietor, the youngest child and son, Mark. Thank you in advance. Please help make this a greater 7th re-opening year and 86th overall year.

Pictured is a very young and dapper Arthur Sr., believed to be somewhere at his old South end home, which was also a pig and chicken farm, started by his parents, legally immigrating from Greece in 1907. Please Instagram and Follow & Share on Facebook at Temple Food Mart.

TEMPLE FOOD MART Remembers MIKE FLANAGAN again... 44 years ago... The year was 1979 on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10TH... the City of Manchester declared it "Mike Flanagan Day."

In 1979, Manchester native and baseball great, Mike Flanagan, pitched his way into a World Series with the Baltimore Orioles. Though the Orioles lost in 7 games, Mike Flanagan won the "Cy Young" award for the best Pitcher in baseball that year.

Temple Food Mart proudly memorializes that long ago day of November 1979 and honors Mike Flanagan, who is no longer with us, sadly passing away in 2011.

"Flanny" got his baseball start starring in Manchester's South Little League playing for Temple Food Mart, where he once struck out 18 batters in one 6 inning game.

The photograph is of an original Little League baseball that Temple Food Mart's founder, my father, had saved. It is from one of Flanny's former teams, signed by Mike and several teammates (although very faded). The baseball card was provided to me from a visitor that stopped into Temple Food Mart in 2022.

Please Re-Post, Instagram, Follow and share on Facebook, etc., leaving any relevant comments. Help make this an even greater 85th year at Temple Food Mart since the store's original Opening in 1938, and 7th year since re-opening in 2017.
