WELP summer construction has found us 🚧 Glenwood Ave is closed a couple blacks east of the store until September, but don’t worry - you can still get to us and parking is still available in front of the shop and in our lot behind!

If coming north on 94 you can still exit at Glenwood but then take a left on 2nd Ave N and a right on Girard Ave N. If heading south on 94 you can exit at HWY 55 and take a left at Girard Ave N. Good luck out there 🚗

abides by zero:zero, traditional winemaking practices and makes a full range of bespoke wines. Third generation winemaker Chenoa Ashton-Lewis and Will Basanta create wines that are terroir driven expressions of California and her seasons. They source and hand-pick fruit from family-operated vineyards and work with growers who farm with organic and/or biodynamic practices.

Mermejita | 50% Viognier, 35% Marsanne, 10% Pinot Gris, 5% Sauvignon Blanc. A skin contact white that is floral on the nose, tastes of dried flowers, dried apricots, dried apples, is earthy with salinity.

Resist | 75% Old Vine Carignan + 25% Syrah. Milk chocolate, sour cherry, textured, drinks like a light red.

Mawu | 70% Merlot + 30% Chardonnay. Herbaceous with a touch of minerality. Hints of tart cranberries.

Two hours south of Budapest and just east of the Danube River in Hungary, the entire village resides in is essentially a couple dozen streets held together by 1,200 old cellars hand-dug into the hillsides. Winemakers Petra and BalĂĄzs are two oenologists/viticulturists working with organic farming practices and minimal intervention who want to preserve older vines and highlight how versatile and vibrant these wines can be.

JĂłnĂĄs 2021 | An organic blend of 55% whole-cluster tart Olaszrizling (Welschriesling), 20% fresh n’ waxy Rajani Rizling (aka Riesling, half with two days of skin contact), 20% honeyed HĂĄrslevelƱ with 4 days of semi-carbonic maceration & 5% Tramini to add body. The sibling of ‘BĂĄbel’, ‘JĂłnĂĄs’ is the white village blend, someplace in between a fuller-bodied skin contact and luminous white, chock-full of flowering herbs, bright fruits & tickling textures. 

BĂĄbel 2022 | A ’siller’, in-between a light red and a rosĂ©. A blend of tannic and peppery KĂ©kfrankos (BlaufrĂ€nkisch), fragrant Zweigelt (Rotburger) & carbonically macerated and vibrant Cabernet Sauvignon. From 8-10 harvests taking place at different times, the grapes are pressed and the musts are poured one on top of the other and fermented in a sort of tower. Loaded with florals, raspberry tornado, lime juice, black pepper, anise & a caress of smokiness.

Ludovic Chanson’s first vintage of solo production was 2009 after leaving a career in pharmaceutical research and shadowing renowned producers in France. Based in Montlouis sur Loire, he has a non-interventionist philosophy to winemaking that led him to hand harvest with successive passes to select only grapes at optimal ripeness. His primary aim is to craft wines that best express the minerality of the silex and perruches soils of Montlouis.

Les Cabotines | Chenin Blanc aged in old oak barriques ranging from 1-7 years old. With ample acidity and structure, this is some crazy good juice. 

Sans Pagne | A pét nat made from a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Beautifully textured with soft, round bubbles, and a bright, lemony acidity.

Rigodon | Chenin Blanc stored in tanks for 7 months. Dry, with a nice balance of bright citrus fruits and acid.

Fresh, low-ABV imports from Les Cantarelles in Spain have arrived! The first sommelier at Bar Brutal in Barcelona, .renom started making wines in 2014 and purchased her own farm in 2021 where she employs biodynamic treatments, never uses SO2 or other additives, and bottes without fining or filtering.

Lil | 97% Parellada from various parcels at Nuria’s own Can Barceló, with a touch of Muscat from the Camí Ral vineyard in Sant Pere de Ribes.

Adda | 100% Parellada from two vineyards (Vinya de l’Era and La Continua) at Can Barceló at 410m on shallow sedimentary clays over limestone.

Andréa Calek has many mythologies surrounding him as to how he ended up in the ArdÚche making wine (maybe he ran away from his native Czech to avoid the draft?). He spent some time in vineyards in the south of France and fell in with a new wave of winemakers working naturally in ValvigniÚres, where he decided to settle and cultivate a small area of vines located around his cellar. Everything is done by hand and without any input, preserving the purity of the fruit and creating wines with great freshness and energy.

Mahlon 2023 | 100% Arneis. This vintage is at once textbook and surprising. Fresh and lemony, saline breezy and uniquely savory. Snappy yet textural, with unidentified little white flowers, bitter almond, sesame and miso. 

Rosé Cuvée Zero 2022 | Mainly Touriga Nacional, Souzao, Tinta Roriz, with a tiny bit of Sauvignon Blanc. White tea texture with notes of blood orange, nectarine and rose hips. Snappy and vivid with a hint of tannins on the finish.

Feints 2022 | The majority is Arneis, Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo carbonic co-ferment with a smattering of other carbonically macerated grapes such as Trebbiano, Pinot Noir, and carbo Zin. Light bodied lots of fresh blackberry and cranberry with lightly earthy notes and high acidity.

Amaro Camatti was created in Genoa in 1924 by chemist, pharmacist and herbalist Umberto Briganti who started producing the bitters with his brother Cesare. The liqueur (with a secret recipe of flowers, herbs and aromatic herbs) was immediately popular due to its digestive properties and use against seasickness. In 1935, Amaro Camatti was awarded the title of Supplier to the Royal House and in 2023 it won the World Liqueur Awards ‘World’s Best Bitter’ award.

Esmeralda GarcĂ­a tends her family’s old Verdejo vineyards in Santiuste de San Juan Bautista where the dry, sandy soils have allowed for vines to thrive on their original rootstocks (she estimates many of them are over 200 years old and predate the arrival of phylloxera in Spain in the late 19th century). Her four sites in Rueda all vary in altitude and soil composition, allowing her to bottle several cuvĂ©es with strikingly different profiles. The arid climate enables her to work without pesticides or chemical additives and in the cellar she initiates fermentation with native yeasts only.

Arenas de SantYuste 2020 | 130+ year old Verdejo vines. Refreshingly dry, with an amazing concentration, ripe fruit core and grapefruit pith.

Michiko 2019 | 120-190 year old Verdejo vines, aged under veil of flor in Jerez boot. On the palate it is delicate, fresh and elegant. A complex wine with good structure and an inviting saline finish.

Vinos Ambiz is a natural wine project by Fabio Bartolome based in Sierra de Gredos, northwest of Madrid. Fabio was born and raised in Scotland by Italian parents but moved to Spain some 20 years ago where he has been making low intervention wines since 2003. Described by many as a genuine and crazy character, Fabio makes truly unconventional wines made of only 100% grapes and nothing else.

STAFF FAVORITE! Antony Tortul worked in a few regions in the South of France as a viticultural technician and oenologist before deciding to work in the very particular way that he does. Antony is a nĂ©gociant, he buys grapes from various vine-growers in different regions of the Languedoc (and beyond) and vinifies in his cellar in BĂ©ziers. He is rigorous in his selection of vineyards and looks for exceptional terroir and organic/biodynamic viticulture. He has collected around 40 different vineyards of different terroirs, grape varieties and ages of vine (between 40 and 110) – and produces an extensive portfolio of wines that are staunchly zero/zero: no sulphur, no fining, no filtration.

Chuck 2020 | 50% Grenache 50% Syrah. A fruity and spicy rosé pét-nat. On the palate it is fresh, mineral and slightly tannic.

SM 2021 | 70% Marsanne 70% and 30% Sauvignon blanc grown on Villafranchian deposit on a basaltic base in PĂ©zenas in the HĂ©rault valley. The mouth is tense, full, with a nice minerality, long on white fruits.

Éternel Retour 2020 | 100% Mauzac Jaune. A cooked apple nose, sweet spices, saffron. Taste of salted butter and honey.

Located on the southern slope of Somló Hill in Western Hungary is . The mountain is an old formation of volcanic origin which fills every glass of Somló wine with rich minerality, robust acid structure and healing power according to local tradition. 

Somlói Juhfark | 100% Juhfark (Sheep’s tail), which is a distinctive white grape variety found almost exclusively in Somló. According to Bay Area restaurateur Jeff Berlin, “it’s the ultimate yin and yang wine in that it is at once rich, opulent and elegant but has such prominent veins of volcanic ash and minerality running through it at the same time. Like a Caligulan feast in a glass.”

Furmint | While most may be more familiar with Furmint from Tokaj, this is a completely different animal. A “fresh” wine, the naturally high acidity and aromatic neutrality of Furmint allows Somló to shine clearly.

is the result of generations of grapes: The Baruffaldis have strived to maintain respect for the terroir of their vineyards, located in Lombardy in the Oltrepo Pavese hills and farmed organically. The cellars are in the castle which still remains from the fourteenth century in the center of the property, around which there are about eighteen hectares of vines and 135 hectares of meadows, forests, orchards, and arable land.

StĂŒvenagh Sbarbatello | produced from 100% indigenous Pinot Noir grapes. The vineyards are rooted in clay terroir at approximately 420 meters above sea level, benefiting from optimal south-facing exposure. Fresh, mineral, well-structured with notes of violet and small red fruits.

Twenty percent of the GrĂŒner Veltliner grapes in the Hollötrio undergo maceration with the skins for 3 weeks, which softens the hard edges without adding much tannic influence. .wines is a tiny winery operated by husband/wife duo Rodrigo Martins and Ana Leal in Lisbon, Portugal. Martins describes their approach to winemaking: “In the vineyards we use no herbicides, no synthetic pesticides, hand work most of vineyards activities and use no irrigation. In the winery we use only natural fermentations, no temperature control on our fermentation vessels, no fining, no filtration, low levels of sulfur. Sustainability is a way of thinking and working where the environment is always the first priority, and the quality of the fruit we produce is at the center of everything, to the benefit of my generation and future generations.”

Based out of Sonoma County, California, Scott and Jenny Schultz work with a handful of growers to source fruit from spectacular vineyard sites, allowing them to keep a hands-off approach in the cellar. The winemaking method at Jolie-Laide is simple: grapes are left whole cluster, foot crushed, and aged in neutral oak. All ferments are done with native yeasts, and the only additions consist of a minimal dose of sulfur before bottling.

Glou d’Etat | A red blend, light summer crusher made in a fun and irreverent style inspired by many of their favorite European wines. Tart cranberry, orange peel, dried flowers, garrigue, and earth tones finished with balanced acidity and lithe tannins.

Gamay Noir, Rancho Coda | Coming from a vineyard of heightened exposure to the elements and complex soils. Dark but fresh and elevated on all levels. Wild strawberry, summer herbs with cranberry tartness.

Red Wine, California | Emerging from several risk-taking vineyards dotted abound Northern California and composed of unique, rare varieties: 44% Trousseau Noir, 22% Gamay, 18% Valdiguié, 13% Cabernet Pfeffer and 3% Poulsard. Delicate and lean, mineral-laden, cranberry scented with incense, to***co, petrichor and black peppercorn.

Syrah, North Coast | A blend of three single variety vineyards that has resulted is a wine that harmonizes the distinct qualities of each terroir, creating a symphony of floral, herbal, and spicy elements.

Trousseau Gris, Fanucchi Wood Road | A veritable highwire act; light on its feet, wildly floral yet savory with a visceral depth. An inebriating blend of summer melon, stone fruit, white tea and wet rock weave with finessed length and palate presence.
