Our Story - The Sweetest Things In Life
It started with a question in Fall of 2016. “Where do I take my kids for really good ice cream around here?”
Dan Sell casually asked the question to Kasey Allen while they were working together on the creation of a software company. Dan, an Ohio native who had recently moved his family of 5 to Boise, was longing for a place that reminded him of his childhood days spent eating ice cream with his family and friends at the favorite local spots in Ohio’s cities.
Besides the usual suspects of chain stores and froyo shops, Kasey didn’t really have an answer - especially not anything uniquely creative, focused on local ingredients, fun flavors, and high quality product. The two joked to each other, “Well maybe we should create that!”
That joke turned into a serious idea when the pair bought a countertop ice cream maker for $400 and started experimenting in Dan’s kitchen. The concept came together - an ice cream shop meets brewery environment with unique, creative ice cream flavors and optional beer, wine, and espresso pairings, floats, and flights. Flavors would span dairy-free/vegan, custom ice cream creations, and booze-infused options. The STIL would be a beacon for customers to reconnect with and be reminded of the sweetest things in their lives over the joy of a delicious ice cream, friendly service, and an upbeat atmosphere.
