COMING SOON! A book covering the life and times of Richard Roesiger (yes, he discovered beautiful Lake Roesiger). Written by his great-niece, it covers the challenges he faced as an early Snohomish County pioneer and community leader. Details from decades of his personal diaries carry the reader back to the 1890s in our local area, when "walked to town" referenced a 12-mile trek to Snohomish, or "caught the train in Machias" was preceded by an 11-mile hike. Familiar local family names and places are the foundation of his story, as are his personal descriptions and critiques of events like the 1909 Alaska Yukon Pacific exposition. Pictures abound in this 500 page volume!

Just a heads up for anyone heading to the Deception Pass area this weekend: Runners and paddlers will be out in full force! Saturday, Dec. 13 is the Rainshadow 25K Run and Sunday, Dec. 14 is the Rainshadow 50K Run.

And then there's the Deception Pass Dash--an event for sea kayaks, outriggers, canoes and SUPs—this Saturday and Sunday. Should be some great spectating, BTW!

Camp Silverton-Waldheim's time is NOW! Received an email from the Forest Service and they are wanting the following things by tomorrow...
1. Resources....that means send your friends to the GoFundMe.com acct and start donating so we can show the ability to take on this project. What better way to give then back to our Camp.
2. Volunteers... your thumbs up are great and are being counted. Need your family and friends here showing we are a force.
3. Materials...feel we are innovative people with resources to get us the materials we need.

So here is the latest update:
Met with the Forest Service and discussion was had about whether we can get an agreement signed for collaboration through monies and in-kind service. If you are interested in getting more involved please message me as we need to know the interest for this historical effort.
**The two last remaining A frame cabins are on the list for destruction unless we can find someone who would be willing to volunteer their time and equipment to move them elsewhere on the property****HELP NOW!!!!!!!
The kitchen dining hall is to be gone with no options given. Sadness! Have asked for pics from their latest tour of the buildings.
