My 97 year old Dad Joe Palmisano loves a White Marlin Gin Martini. 7 times distilled and very smooth and clean. Our best seller nationwide. Crafted and bottled in Maryland. Available in most Easter Shore Liquor Stores.

A PERFECT MARTINI

MY USUAL MARTINI IS IN A CHILLED GLASS. I USE BEEFEATER GIN THAT IS KEPT IN THE FREEZER,
NO ICE. IT IS A DIRTY MARTINI.

FIRST 2 OLIVES; ONE STUFFED WITH BLUE CHEESE, THE OTHER STUFFED WITH ALMOND.

USE THE LIQUID FROM A JAR OF QUEEN OLIVES. ENOUGH TO YOUR TASTE.

THEN SLOWLY ADD THE WHITE MARLIN GIN, AND SWIRL. AS YOU DO THIS, YOU WILL SALIVATE.
(I'M SALIVATING NOW JUST THINKING ABOUT. IT).

NOW, VERY SLOWLY, SIP, YOU WILL SALIVATE SOME MORE, BUT IT WILL ENHANCE THE FLAVOR.

RARELY, DRINK TWO. NOW, IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO EAT, SWITCH TO WINE.

ALWAYS RESPECT YOUR MARTINI, NEVER GULP OR OVERINDULGE. JUST ONE
WILL PUT YOU IN A GOOD MOOD. PERFECT WITH SNACKS, TOO.

Ocean City will be offering the Beach Bus for FREE on New Year’s Eve! Bus services will be free starting at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, December 31, 2023, until 3:00 a.m. Monday, January 1, 2024. Bus service will run approximately every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. on December 31 and then approximately every 15 minutes from 6 p.m. December 31 – 3 a.m. January 1. Be safe this New Years Eve and ride the Beach Bus!

TODAY IS NEW YEARS EVE WHICH IS CELEBRATED IN DIFFERENT WAYS ALL OVER THE WORLD.

IN AMERICA, THE BIGGEST DEAL IS THE DROPPING OF THE BALL IN TIMES SQUARE. THE BALL WEIGHS ALMOST 12,000 POUNDS. IT IS ALLOWED TO DROP FROM A SEVENTY FOOT POLE AT EXACTLY 11:59 EDT. IT ARRIVES AT THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING 12:00 MIDNIGHT.

IN ITALY, IT IS A TRADITION TO WEAR RED UNDERWEAR ON NEW YEAR'S EVE.

IN AUSTRIA, THE NEW YEAR IS MET WITH THE SOUND OF THE BELLS FROM ST. STEPHEN'S CATHEDRAL IN VIENNA. THEN COMES THE PLAYING OF "THE BLUE DANUBE WALTZ" ON JUST ABOUT EVERY RADIO IN AUSTRIA.
THE PEOPLE DANCE IN THE STREETS ALL OVER AUSTRIA.

IN BRAZIL, THE NEW YEAR MARKS THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER.

Know your drinking establishments:

A Pub is short for Public House (from the British) - a place where alcohol is served, but more formally a meeting place.
A Tavern is short for Taverna (Mediterranean/Latin origin) - this is what early Americans who rebelled against the Crown called their drinking spots as they refused to call them "pubs" after the British.
A Bar literally referred to a barred gate that could be dropped from hinges over the sides of the "bar" to protect the bartender or any valuables within. You can still find these in many taverns. The name soon became a catch-all for the entire area where alcohol was mixed and served, and later the entire establishment.
