Plato's assertion, "You should not honor men more than truth," encapsulates a fundamental principle of his philosophy: the pursuit of truth is paramount. This statement implies that personal allegiances, admiration, or respect for individuals should never supersede our commitment to the truth.

In the context of Plato's works, this sentiment is particularly relevant in his depiction of Socrates, who valued truth and wisdom above all else, even at the cost of his own life. Socrates' relentless questioning and critical examination of accepted beliefs often put him at odds with the powerful figures of Athenian society. Despite facing condemnation and eventually ex*****on, Socrates remained steadfast in his commitment to the pursuit of truth.

Plato's statement also resonates with the concept of intellectual integrity. It underscores the importance of being honest in our thinking and communication, valuing facts and rational discourse over personal biases or the influence of authority figures. This principle is foundational to the practice of philosophy, science, and any field that seeks to understand and explain reality.

Moreover, this idea is a call to critical thinking and skepticism. It encourages individuals to question authority and conventional wisdom, to seek evidence, and to hold beliefs accountable to reason and empirical scrutiny. Honoring truth over individuals ensures that knowledge progresses and that society does not fall victim to dogma or the whims of those in power.

In today's world, Plato's message is more relevant than ever. In an era of misinformation and polarized opinions, the commitment to truth serves as a guiding principle for responsible citizenship and effective governance. It reminds us that truth is not determined by who speaks it, but by the evidence and reason behind it. This principle safeguards against the manipulation of facts for personal or political gain, ensuring that our collective decisions are informed by reality rather than rhetoric.

Ultimately, Plato's assertion that we should honor truth above individuals is a timeless reminder of the ethical duty to seek and uphold truth in all aspects of life. It calls for a society that values knowledge and wisdom, fostering an environment where truth can thrive and lead to genuine progress.

This beautiful sculpture was built by the Irish people in their own country to honor the American Choctaw Indian tribe. They were grateful because in 1847 the Choctaw people sent money to Ireland when they learned that Irish people were starving due to the potato famine. The Choctaw themselves were living in hardship and poverty, having recently endured the Trail of Tears.
And that is a lesson in how to be a person in this world.
Kindred Spirits is a large stainless steel outdoor sculpture in Bailick Park in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland. The shape of the feathers is intended to represent a bowl of food

Reality

Red Eagle or William Weatherford (1780 or 1781 - March 24, 1824) was a Creek chief. One of many mixed-race descendants of Southeast Indians who intermarried with European traders and later colonial settlers. Red Eagle was of mixed Creek, French and Scots ancestry.
He was raised as a Creek in the matrilineal nation and achieved his power in it, through his mother's prominent Wind Clan, as well as his father's trading connections. After showing his skill as a warrior, he was given the war name of Hopnicafutsahia. The Creek War (1813-1814), also known as the Red Stick War and the Creek Civil War, was a regional war between opposing Creek factions, European empires, and the United States, taking place largely in Alabama and along the Gulf Coast.
Red Eagle became increasingly concerned about the influx of European Americans onto Creek land and eventually led a group known as “Red Sticks,” bent on protecting their land, their way of life, and their people from intruders.
Eventually the smaller forces of Red Sticks and the larger opposing forces led by General Andrew Jackson came against each other. The conflict ended in the decisive defeat of the Red Sticks at The Battle of Horseshoe Bend, near modern-day Dadeville, Alabama. Terms were drawn up that provided far less land than the Creek tribe had previously held.
The quote attributed to Chief Red Eagle reads, "Angry people want you to see how powerful they are.
Loving people want you to see how powerful YOU are."-End ID]

Fun fact: Florida Panthers' Matthew Tkachuk and Jason Tatum of the NBA's Boston Celtics were childhood friends and are now both one win away from winning championships, leading their series 3-0.

Oh those "Corporate Shirts".
Somewhere there is a marketing manager who, right this very moment, is creating the "perfect corporate shirt". Of course they think it is perfect. Every employee who is required to wear that shirt is not so pleased.
It is too hot, it is not warm enough, it shows off my arms, it doesn't show off my arms. Then comes the color choice. Don't even think about it because everyone hates it.
Okay so now what to do? What should the shirt do? Why even bother?
Here at the HOBE SOUND BEACH SHOP we pride ourselves on our knowledge of great design, great selection and great service for EVERY customer. From one shirt to hundreds we can take your idea/design and create the PERFECT team shirt. One that every team member will be proud to wear, one that will build your identity, create corporate camaraderie and best of all meet your budgetary requirements.
From our design team, our sales team and the "seaside siblings" we invite you to c'mon down to Bridge Road in Hobe Sound and check out what we can do for you and your corporate image.
LETS BUILD A HAPPY, WELL DRESSED TEAM TOGETHER!!

The Little store that Grew

In 2018 Barb McLaughlin started a Tee Shirt shop in Hobe Sound with her brother, George, and it was called George’s Tees Please. After a short time they outgrew the original location and moved to Bridge Road where they had more space and they added more lines to their product list including Tommy Bahama and 4 Ocean and Hawaiian shirts, sandals, sunglasses and more. With the growth in space and more products the name was changed to reflect the evolution in the product lines and was re-branded as HOBE SOUND BEACH SHOP. This is a great location that has free parking and is close by on your way to the Hobe Sound Beach, drop in for a cup of coffee and be amazed by the variety of ideal local and handmade items in their collection.
