Happy Easter
Why is Easter Celebrated by Christians?
Christians celebrate Easter, or Resurrection Sunday, in commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The holiday is observed on the first Sunday after the first full moon of the Paschal lunar cycle, which varies from year to year on a Gregorian calendar. Christians believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and three days later, on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox, he rose from the dead. They further believe that since Jesusâs resurrection is the ultimate proof of his divinity, Christians should live their lives in accordance to his teachings.

In 2001, the internationalwomensday.com platform was launched to reignite attention for the day, celebrate womenâs achievements and continue to call for gender parity.
On the centenary in 2011, sitting US President Barack Obama called for March to be known as Womenâs History Month. He said: âHistory shows that when women and girls have access to opportunity, societies are more just, economies are more likely to prosper, and governments are more likely to serve the needs of all their people".

International Womenâs Day (IWD) takes place on 8 March every year.
It began life as National Womenâs Day in the United States back in February 1909. The following year, at the second International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen, Denmark, womenâs rights activist Clara Zetkin called for an international womenâs day to give women a greater voice to further their demands for equal rights.
