All Things BOGLE
Bogle
Essential Red: A compelling blend of California’s finest plantings of Old Vine Zinfandel 31%, Syrah 19%, Cabernet Sauvignon 24% and Petite Sirah 26%, this wine surpasses all expectation for pure enjoyment. Barrel aged in French & American oak to combine the richness of the varietals. R ICH, R IPE, LUSCIOUS AND JUICY!
Chardonnay: Chardonnay grapes grown in Clarksburg are known for their characteristic apple and pear aromas and flavors. Bogle winemakers have captured these refreshing and ripe notes while allowing them to develop and intensify through stainless steel fermentation. Additional grapes are vinted using the techniques of barrel fermentation, sur-lies aging and partial malolactic fermentation, which creates an elegant counterpart to the fresh fruit with tones of spicy vanilla and nutmeg. The creamy mouthfeel adds just the final touch on the finish, reminiscent of an apple and pear galette. This wine is best served with just about everything!
Sauvignon Blanc: The 2013 Sauvignon Blanc takes its cues from winemaking methods used in the classic New Zealand-style to capture the character of this lively varietal. Bogle winemakers practice reductive winemaking techniques and cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks to create a traditionally-styled wine, vibrant and bursting with flavor! Freshly mowed grass and green citrus notes permeate the aromas of this wine, while lemongrass, asparagus, and a touch of white pepper enliven the palate. This full entry leads to a crisp finish, filled with zest of lime and zingy acidity. Finishing bright and satisfying, this wine makes your mouth water for more! This wine is best served with a wide range of appetizers and light dishes, mostly fish, spring greens, goat cheese and fruit salsas.
Pinot Noir: Fruit from the best growing regions of California have combined to create an elegant, yet expressive 2012 Pinot Noir. The cool Russian River Valley, coastal Monterey hills and the unique Clarksburg Delta all grow grapes of tremendous quality. Floral aromas of violets and rose petals dance with wild strawberries on the nose of this wine. The mouthfeel, silky and refined, brightens with ripe chokeberry and currant, while touches of pipe to***co and worn leather round out the sip. French and American oak make a lasting impression, leaving this wine with a balanced finish of toasted spices and refined tannins. This wine is best served with soft, ripe cheeses and unique pates as well as mushroom dishes, poultry and pork.
Merlot: The exceptional growing season of 2012 was marked by a relatively long, cool summer. Grapes hung on the vine happily until harvest and the resulting vintage has brought us a Merlot wine full of bigger structure, deeper color and more complex aromatics. The first impression: a sensory overload of ripe fruits and savory garden herbs that overwhelms the nose. Summer plums and sweet cherries create a full entry and even bigger mouthfeel than lingers and languishes with the toasty vanilla from the American oak barrels. Remaining silky and smooth in texture, the wine finishes with sturdy tannins that wrap up this gift from 2012 perfectly. This is wines has a multitude of different food paring: soft cheeses and pate, port and pasta dishes. Basically you should not be afraid to pair this any type of food.
Cabernet Sauvignon: Cabernet Sauvignon is a grape that takes its own sweet time, slowly lingering to ripen on the vine. We are rewarded by its reluctance. Bogle winemakers have crafted a classic example of this expressive varietal. Deeply extracted cherry and bright cassis arrest the senses, holding captive on both the nose and the palate. Swiftly followed by red currant jam and black pepper, the supple mouthfeel fills out this full-bodied wine. Toasty vanilla from the American oak heightens the dense fruit, and the wine finishes with stellar tannins softened by just a hint of grandpa’s old cherry pipe to***co. Cellar for another 7-10 years, but don’t let anyone say you can’t enjoy it now. This well-balanced red wine can be savored with a variety of meat dishes, rich sauces or aged cheeses. Try a rib eye with blue cheese butter.
Old Vine Zindandel: Head-trained, dry farmed vines are prized for their production of small, concentrated clusters of grapes that produce incredibly rich and intense wines. For years, Bogle has sought out these gnarly old vines to create our Old Vine Zinfandel. While Zinfandel and the word “sophisticated” aren’t often found in the same sentence, this vintage from Bogle winemakers takes delicious fruit from the 2012 vintage and creates a wine lively with red cranberries and pink peppercorns. Hints of a hillside briar patch in summer waft through the wine as well, while spicy clove heightens at the finish from the oak aging. Rustic and refined at all once, this Zinfandel is sure to please! This is a versatile wine to pair with everything from rich and unique dishes, to your favorite barbecue or weeknight take out!
Petite Sirah: With this 2012 vintage, the big, dark, luscious “heritage” Petite Sirah from Bogle has returned en force! Petite Sirah is always rich and concentrated, but the 2012 takes these characteristics to a whole new level. Inky and muscular, the fruits of intense blueberry and dark Marion berry hold court in the glass. Leaving little room for much else, the full bodied mouthfeel envelopes the senses, leaving a powerful impression. The wine finishes with brawny tannins, softened only just slightly by notes of freshly baked blueberry pie: warm fruit compote, vanilla, nutmeg and the desire to take another sip. Try this unique wine with rich meat dishes of lamb, pork or game and their hearty sauces.
Phantom: Bogle’s tantalizing apparition of rich berry and relentless spice returns to tease wine lovers. Full of flavor, concentration and intensity, this mysterious wine will haunt you well after the last sip is gone. A spectre of rubies sparkles in the glass, awaiting with its first impression. Bright red cherry fruit and black pepper tempt you to take that sip, with hints of brawny juniper, rich blackberry and briary boysenberry in the background. Succulent in mouthfeel, the wine showcases its versatile grape varietals: Petite Sirah 46%, Zinfandel 40%, Cabernet Sauvignon 11% and Mourvedre 3%. Aged for over 24 months in 1 and 2 year old American oak, tones of spicy vanilla and toasted coconut moderate the firm tannins and create a focused and intense finish. Enjoy this passionate and commanding red wine, yet another vintage impossible to ignore.
