I've received many inquiries as of late on a particular topic. I'd like to try and clarify if I can.
As a fairly young retailer we've been honored to be in a group that is privileged to offer very unique, and exclusive ci**rs. For example, F.F. Opus X, Drew Estate Liga Privada, Padron, etc... The one question I get is why are all of these ci**rs ridiculously expensive in some retailers, and in others pretty much at what most recognize as M.S.R.P.?
There are multiple answers to this question. It starts with where are the retailers located. If the State in which they're in has high Sales and/or To***co tax. Then the ci**rs will be priced according to those factors.
If the retailer is in a major commercial market, for example Manhattan, Miami, L.A.. They may need to charge more for their products due to cost of operations. All of these circumstances contribute to what a retailer must charge for his products to maintain their business.
There are also many retailers who acquire these products through a second party. They do this to provide something unique and rare to their clientele. Most of the time, they themselves have to pay full retail for the particular items so they must sell them for a higher price to make it worth while.
All these scenarios are reasonable, and acceptable.
We as retailers try very hard to provide our customers with the best, and highest quality products we can attain.
That said, there are some that will try to take advantage of these exclusive offerings and capitalize on their rarity. These are the folks most are really referring to. I've heard stories of certain ci**rs at two and three times M.S.R.P.. If you're willing to pay that, great. Just be aware that there are hundreds of retailers around the country that don't do that.
Mickey Blake's has always maintained a practice of keeping our prices in line. We don't get much of the aforementioned products as often as we'd like. But when we do, you can be assured we don't exploit it. Ci**rs are meant to be enjoyed by everyone. We work very hard at making sure our patrons have a chance to enjoy them all.
