Want the summer fun with low or no abv? Check out our new line of mushroom infused elixirs from or a grapefruit or hard cherry radler from or You will not regret it!! From Ceybon - “Crafted by a doctor using traditional healing preparations from organic and wild harvested mushrooms and botanicals for a taste and feel that’s better than alcohol.” I love that these apéritifs are not trying to be wine. In fact, they taste much more like a high quality vermouth to me without the alcohol. Indeed, you do get a buzz from drinking Ceybon, but it’s not from alcohol, it’s from the high quality ingredients.

Chateau Thivin ‘23 Beaujolais-Villages Rosé

Known for their flagship Côte-de-Brouilly bottling, the lovely Geoffray family also produces this Beaujolais-Villages rosé. It’s the perfect mise en bouche, as the French say—a palate opener to sharpen the senses and introduce your taste buds to the day’s first drops of wine. These Gamay vines are over fifty years old—rare in rosé production—and you can sense a mouthwatering salinity that mimics the old-vine roots licking up mineral salts from the granitic bedrock. The result is a silky mouthfeel and delicate fruit that reflects the gentleness of these natural methods. The choice to harvest early assures a low alcohol content and a spark of freshness that enlivens one’s palate. Arnaud Lambert ‘22 Saumur Champigny Terres Rouges 🍇🇫🇷

Arnaud Lambert’s wines are a real reference point for site specific wines in remote corners of Saumur-Champigny. His home, many of his vineyards and the focus of much of his passion is the tiny hamlet of Brezé (so tiny that it was recently combined with 2 nearby villages to make a single commune), a few miles south of Saumur. The distinct limestone subsoils here have for centuries been known for producing exquisite wines from the local Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc varieties. This newest vintage is classic Saumur Champigny with plenty of snappy dark raspberry/blueberry fruit, earthy tones and wet stone. Here in this bottle is everything I love about Cabernet Franc from a region with literally thousands of years of winemaking history. Organically farmed for decades now and transitioning to Biodynamics.

Maybe it’s the mountain air, maybe it’s the lively blackberry scented fruit, maybe it’s the fun-loving inhabitants of the region itself, or maybe it’s just the fact that these wines are so damn gluggable... Whatever the reason, I am totally sold on Beaujolais (Gamay) as most fun red in the world of wine. Make no mistake though, that doesn’t meant that there aren’t so-called “serious” wines from this region, it just means that most of them aren’t cerebral, they’re just meant for enjoying with friends at a bistro, backyard bbq, or watching the sunset at the beach.

Mercouri Estate ‘19 Refosco 🍇🍷

The Domaine Mercouri Red is a blend of 85% Refosco and 15% Mavrodaphne grapes. The wine spends 10-12 months of maturation in French oak barrels, then rests in the bottle for at least another six months. The wine has a deep brick-red color and a nose of red brambly fruits with spice notes - vanilla and coffee bean. This red is medium-bodied and well-structured with full, yet fine tannins. Enjoy with roasted red and white meats, any casseroles with tomato sauce and hard cheeses.

Xinomavro is one of those grapes that was almost misplaced and forgotten to the sands of time... if not for a few conscientous winemakers who swoooped in to save it! Normally known for making powerful, tannic wines that needed forever to come around, this Xinomavro from Apostolos Thymiopoulos has tamed the beast! The nose exhibits plenty of dark cherry, plum and dark licorice. The palate reiterates the nose with even more dark brambly and exotic fruit. A wine that is both enticing and intrigueing and makes you want to move to the hills of Macedonia!

Tsiakkas ’22 Xinisteria $23 🇬🇷🍇

Well, well. If you have been craving a white that smells like the Mediterranean Sea but retains the structure and balance of a finely etched Chablis... look no further! This “rabbit” wine for those of you thrown off by the Greek alphabet is a real head-turner. White peach, lilly and citrus zest inform the nose and palate. Piemaggio ‘19 Chianti Classico le fioraie 🍷🇮🇹

We love a good Chianti Classico and this one is old school to the core. A blend of 90% Sangiovese with 10% Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, and Colorino, Piemaggio’s flagship Chianti Classico ferments spontaneously in stainless steel during a 3 ½ week maceration, and spends two years aging in a combination of concrete tanks and previously used wooden casks—mainly 25-hectoliter Slavonian oak, with some 500-liter French oak employed as well. 
This wine is drinking beautifully right now and coming into it’s own. The nose evokes purple and red flowers, dried dark cherries and garrigue. The palate is dominated by plenty of bright cherry, red licorice, underbrush and cedar spice. We’re here until 7pm so come grab a bottle for the weekend! Cheers!!

We love southern Italian reds! But Bob, you might ask, why are these wines better than any other winegrowing region in the world? I think there’s something so honest and authentic about them. For one, to this day these wines are produced in very remote and isolated areas of Italy. Literally, prior to 40 years ago, many of these wines never left the village where they were made. Now, fortunately for us, we can enjoy them halfway around the world! Also, if you’re like me, try looking up some authentic recipes from the region where these wines come from. The food is fantastic and you will certainly learn something about their cultural heritage. Cin Cin to Southern Italy!

A Quintet of Barolo

Happy December! We always get excited for our Winter allocations of Barolo. This year we received some of the very best wines from Cavallotto and Oddero. In particular, the Vigna San Giuseppe '16 and the Vignarionda Riserva '16 are absolutely stellar wines from arguably the best vintage of the past 20 years in Piedmont. In my opinion, Nebbiolo at this level is transcendent. Such complexity, harmony and balance... These wines are truly special. Also, we're super excited to get an allocation of Krug in store! Currently, we have the Grand Cuvee 171st Edition in 750s and the Grand Cuvee 168th Edition in Magums in stock. If you've had Krug before, you know how special these wines can be! Just in time for the Holidays, or to gift to that special someone who could use a bottle of world-class Champagne. Cheers!

Albert Mann Riesling Tradition 2020 🇫🇷🥂

If you still have holiday leftovers or just need the perfect food-friendly weekend wine, this one’s for you! Dry, delicious Alsatian Riesling. The Albert Mann estate is the result of the union of two great winegrowing families: the Mann family and the Barthelmé family, (the current owners) both of whom have been growing wine since the 17th century. This Alsatian Riesling is farmed biodynamically. A classic, clean Riesling with an alluring bouquet and a layered palate with flavors and aromas of ripe pear and apple, offset by cleansing notes of mandarin, citrus, and lime. Come grab one today! A delightful, light bodied Montepulciano from Abruzzo, Italy. Iole Rabasco inherited her family’s small vineyard and olive grove, both of which have soils that have never been treated with chemicals. Rabasco is located in the village of Pianella, province of Pescara, in the heart of Abruzzo.  The area offers a unique set of meso and micro climates particular to this north-central corner of Abruzzo; the Adriatic is some 40 kilometers away. With notes of earth and herbs this rosso is intriguingly wild. Showing a darker fruit profile of blackberry with a hint of bitterness. Long tannins and fresh with good acid. It is always our intention to have a very strong selection of excellent vino this time of year to keep you, your friends and family well-stocked through to 2024. We brought in some 80 cases of wine this week alone! Our first step is to bring in the tried-and-true staples for this time of year (i.e. Beaujolais Nouveau, Cru Beaujolais, Alsace & sparkling in particular), coupled with strong selections of French, Italian and Californian wines for the table. We really strive to think of every food/wine pairing for all of our favorite dishes we simply must have throughout the Holidays. For instance, Green Bean Casserole - a zesty, rich Pouilly-Fuisse, Sausage and Herb Stuffing - a rustic, earthy, Langhe Nebbiolo, Ultra Creamy Mashed Potatoes - a dry Alsace Riesling, Farro w Mushrooms - 1er Cru Burgundy and so on... Benedicte et Stephane Tissot NV Cremant du Jura 🥂🥂 

The Tissot family has been producing wine in the Jura since 1962, with Stéphane and Bénédicte taking the reins from his parents. The estate is in Arbois, a commune located within Jura, about 30 miles west of Switzerland. It's an insular area that specializes in unique renditions of both classic and little-known grapes. This blend of mostly chardonnay, pinot noir and smaller amounts of poulsard (a native, thin-skinned red grape that produces lighter wines), and trousseau (native to eastern France, makes deep wines with high alcohol and acidity) is a full-bodied bubbly that is a rich, deep gold in color, sparkling with streams of fine bubbles. This cuvee is fuller-bodied than Champagne with opulent aromas of yeast, orchard fruit, citrus, and flowers and almonds on the palate supported by a lively, mineral-driven finish. Biodynamically grown, low-intervention/natural wine. An outstanding Champagne alternative and one we will be imbibing all winter long.

Our favorite Sparklers have arrived!


This is the time of year we most look forward to at Point de Chene. It's that special time when we get every wine we've been yearning for and dreaming about since last year when we had that special bottle with family and friends. Of course, we never make ourselves wait for the Holidays for great Champagne, but many of our importers hold back some of the best wines and newest releases for this time of year. Lucky for us, we don't have to wait any longer! I hope you check out some of these sparklers and consider them for your next gathering. To me, there is something truly special about sharing a nice bottle of bubbles with friends and family. It elevates the group and makes the food taste that much better. Be on the lookout for many more Holiday wines arriving in the shop in the coming weeks. Tis the season!
