On July 3rd at 7pm, the South Ector County Volunteer Fire Department invites you to a community event featuring fireworks, food, and desserts, all free of charge. If you need a safe location to set off your own fireworks, please stop by. We welcome all members of the community to join us for an evening of celebration and fun. We will be having a community meeting at Little RANCH PARTY PLACE, 15837 S Hwy 385, on Friday February 2nd at 6:30 pm to speak on issues and fixes in our neighborhoods. They will address concerns about roads, fire departments, law enforcement, etc...Dustin Fawcett and Billy Hall will be there. This is for all South Odessa.

They have some great ideas for our community and need your input. This is your community, please come participate. Thank you Little RANCH PARTY PLACE for giving us such a nice place to meet.

The South Ector County Volunteer Fire Department operates on a very limited budget from the county. Because it is a volunteer fire department they depend on donations from the community and local businesses.

SECVFD has a total of 14 members, 8 of which are active. They respond to between 40-60 calls per month in our area. If you live within 5 miles of Wilson's Corner, you are more than likely all too aware of the number of accidents in this area. I personally know of 6 fatalities in this area in the last 6 months. Why this does not attract the attention of our local official I do not know.

SECVFD receives the bulk of its funding from the Bad Boy Blast which is a sporting clay event held yearly that benefits crime stoppers and volunteer fire departments. We need your help in supporting our volunteer fire department by purchasing a ticket. We will be selling tickets at Wilsons Corner on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make your way up there and get your ticket today.

Yearly Rabies Clinic Coming To Wilson's Corner Grocery located at 16514 S Hwy 385 on April 30th from 12-3 pm.

We have done a yearly rabies clinic with Dr Lide for about 20 years. He has retired and I’m happy to say that this year we have partnered with Fix West Texas. They are an awesome bunch of people and will offer microchipping, vaccinations and flea and tick meds. Unfortunately we will not be doing house calls. They will accept appointments and walk-ins but appointments will be serviced first.

Mark your calendar and feel free to make an appointment online. I’d also like to add that Fix West Texas does spay and neutering at a very reasonable price. Appointments for that can be made online as well.

What is Good Friday, and why do we call Good Friday “good” when it is such a dark and bleak event commemorating a day of suffering and death for Jesus?

Good Friday, the Friday before Easter, is the Christian day to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus and His death at Calvary. This Christian holiday is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, Great and Holy Friday, and Black Friday.

For Christians, Good Friday is an important day of the year because it celebrates what we believe to be the most momentous weekend in the history of the world. Ever since Jesus died and was raised, Christians have proclaimed the cross and the resurrection of Jesus to be the decisive turning point for all creation.

Paul considered it “of first importance” that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was raised to life on the third day, following what God had promised in the Scriptures.

Our longtime cook and friend at Wilson’s Corner, Russell Shahan, suffered a fatal heart attack this morning.

We are devastated and heartbroken. Russell was a good man, father, grandfather and an amazing employee (jokester). He was loved by many and will be missed tremendously. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his girls and family.

South Ector County Community Park located at 4454 W Apple Street is complete and is ready for company. Your kids can come play, walking trail is 1/4 mile around with no dogs chasing you and the pavilion is a nice place to have a birthday party.

Please take care of the equipment and pick up after yourselves. Let’s keep it nice.

Unfortunately, we had a main fuse go out at the fire station.
Sadly, the Grinch, Santa and Mrs Claus had to leave.

It might be cold but it’ll be fun. We will have an enclosed tent with tables and chairs.

We will be having a Christmas party/ribbon cutting to dedicate our brand new community park located at 4454 W Apple St on December 22 from 6pm-9pm.

Wilson’s Corner and South Ector County Volunteer Fire Department along with Debi Hays and Armando Rodriquez will be serving free hot chocolate and cookies while the kids check out the park, visit and take photos with Santa and the Grinch. We will have jumpers, Christmas music and tables to sit at. It’s going to be a great time! Come join us for an hour if you can.

this new Pickles restaurant will be just a couple of doors down. Exactly what we need, a new restaurant not only in that area but to my knowledge, there is nothing like it in Midland-Odessa currently.
