WHAT IS ROUTE 66 BIKE WEEK, AND WHERE EXACTLY IS IT?

Many of you have seen Route 66 Bike Week advertised, and may have wondered, “what is it”. We get a number of emails asking about it, so we figured we would lay it out for everyone. Route 66 Bike Week is week of nostalgia, recognition and appreciation of all that is “The Mother Road”, by motorcycle riders from around the globe. It isn’t just one big gathering, it’s intended as more of a movement. A week long “benefit ride”, and show of appreciation by motorcycle riders, to all of the small businesses along the way. Intended as a “rolling rally” along the entire slab of remaining Route 66 remnants from Chicago to L.A. It happens annually during the last full week in April, ending on Sunday.
The idea was created by Rob Borden, owner of the Saddle Sore Ranch, in 2021. He pulled together a number of local businesses, chambers of commerce and local government tourism departments. Among the added activities is a scavenger hunt designed to get riders out on Route 66 exploring, and stopping into the small businesses that help keep it alive. So, during the last week in April, if you are on Route 66 on a motorcycle, you are participating!!! Showing your support. We thank you for that, the small businesses thank you, and small town USA thanks you.
Although presently most dominant in western Arizona, some areas will have more festivities than others for Route 66 Bike Week. Currently, the most “rally” type activity happens between Oatman, AZ and the Saddle Sore Ranch in Golden Valley, AZ. However, even if you pull up at Texas Ivy Antiques , Bob Lile Art Gallery, Munger-Moss Motel, Blue Whale Of Catoosa Route 66, Jack Rabbit Trading Post, The Blue Swallow Motel, or the World Famous Big Texan Steakhouse during that week, and you are on a motorcycle, YOU ARE PARTICIPATING. Thank you.
Ultimately, we would love to get more involvement in California Historic Route 66 Association, Route 66 Association of Arizona, Route 66 Association of New Mexico, Texas Old Route 66 Association, Oklahoma Route 66 Association, Kansas Historic Route 66 Association, Route 66 Association of Missouri and Route 66 Association of Illinois. Even if all they do is share our flyers to help promote nationwide motorcycle tourism on Route 66 for that week, in their areas.
If you would like to help support the spread of Route 66 Bike Week in your area, please contact Rob at [email protected]

Please SHARE this flyer to help spread the word. All of the Route 66 small businesses would appreciate the support. Thanks in advance.
