We have been watching, with shattered hearts, as wildfires ravage Los Angeles. Homes, long-standing communities, beloved businesses, and the beautiful landscape have been reduced to ashes.

A tale of three photos. This first photo is the picture of my first sale after taking over Kasper’s Liquors from Mrs. Lee. I was incredibly proud of what those four one dollar bills symbolically meant on my journey to creating Lum’s Cellars. I unfortunately do not remember what I sold.
The second and third photos include a counterfeit bill passed to us today. That $100 bill, used to purchase one item and receive the change, symbolizes something much different than the first four.
In the last five weeks we have received $160 in fake bills. We check bills with markers, for other identifiers, and are diligent at ensuring we are not accepting counterfeit bills.
The selfish act of passing fake currency, it’s frustrating, It’s dishonest, and it’s illegal.
As a small business we don’t get to simply exchange these at the bank for real currency: we have to take the loss.
So, individuals and other small businesses, please be careful out there that you too are not getting taken advantage of, and report incidents to the police.
I am very proud of my staff for handling the situation with the , and we look forward to this person to being brought to justice.
