Mountain Monsters
There’s something special about hunting giant mountain bucks! It’s not too late to book a hunt with us this fall! 🇺🇸🦌
Scrape Hunting
The best month to hunt big bucks on scrapes is October, especially mid to late-October. Sometimes it can be so good that they will come running in! If you would like to come hunt with us during this exciting phase of the rut, now is the time to book! PM for me info. Thanks! 🇺🇸🦌
Buck Bedding
Standing in the bed from where I shot my 2023, Pennsylvania mountain buck.
One of the most common questions I get asked is where bucks like to bed in mountain country. There’s so many factors to that, but most of the beds I find are right on the edge of a change in elevation. Unfortunately, this video shuts off right before the buck lies down. However, he’s clearly setting up to bed on a knoll where he looks out into a valley. Also, watch how the buck smells his bed multiple times before he lies down and he also takes a look around to make sure he has a visual advantage!

I’d take this buck over many of the higher scoring deer I’ve had on camera this summer!

It’s hard to beat a beech limb mock scrape this time of year! 🇺🇸🦌
My favorite set up for early season is an active scrape on the edge of bedding. In the evening, one of the first things a mature buck likes to do when he exits the bedroom is to mark his territory as well as see who else has been around. That’s what makes this tactic such a good one! 🇺🇸🦌
Man, things are really heating up in the deer woods! I was able to watch this buck Livestream, with the Bushnell Cellucore trail cam tonight. Watch him tear off his velvet and blister that old, witch hazel! Be sure to turn up the volume before watching! 🇺🇸🦌

Ripping scrapes and shedding velvet! It doesn’t get much better than that! 🇺🇸🦌
In all my years of studying weather and buck movement, other than temperature, bucks always get on their feet right after a heavy rain. One of the best situations is when it rains all day and then it quits a few hours before sunset. You better get in a stand once the weather breaks! 🇺🇸🦌
A mature buck’s eyes and nose work 24/7. Rarely does he ever let his guard down! 🇺🇸🦌
