NEW YORK STATE BURRIS RACING WEEKLY CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES TO DEBUT IN 2024
**Update** - Lebanon Valley Kart Track is also part of the program, for a total of eight facilities
WEEDSPORT, NY (January 24, 2024) – In an effort to help reconnect weekly karting facilities in New York State, Dan Kapuscinski Motorsports Promotions and Burris Racing have partnered to debut the New York State Burris Racing Weekly Championship Series in 2024.
With the introduction of the New York State Burris Racing Weekly Championship Series, drivers at Burris Racing facilities will have the opportunity to score points throughout the season in order to see how they rank against other drivers in the state.
The new weekly series, which mimics that of the Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship facilitated by DIRTcar, will not require any weekly or member fees to be associated with the series. Drivers must simply support local Burris tracks in New York State and they will earn points toward their yearend totals.
“Thank you to Kurt and everyone at Burris for committing to this program in 2024,” said Dan Kapuscinski. “I think this program will be a fun way to track progress across the state and help to promote the weekly levels of our sport through the season at no extra cost to racers.”
Points will be awarded based on a driver’s best 12 finishes at any participating Burris facility. Points are awarded based on the number of karts starting a feature race, with up to 16 karts being counted. The race winner will be awarded 2 points per kart, with a maximum of 32 points going to a winner.
Participating tracks include Allegany Memorial Speedway, Can-Am Speedway, Lebanon Valley Kart Track, Moose Mountain Racing Club, Oswego Kartway, Ransomville Speedway, Turkey Trot Raceway and Weedsport Kartway.
Tracks will determine which of their weekly divisions fall into one of eight categories to be tracked. Divisions included are Red Clone, Green Clone, Purple Clone, Blue Clone, Unrestricted Jr. Clone, Clone Light, Clone Heavy and Clone Super Heavy. In order to be included in a listed division, that class must be a points class at that weekly facility.
Weights, ages and certain track specific rules may vary; with exception of the listed restrictor plate for that division. Weights for adult clone classes may also vary.
At the end of the 2024 season, eight drivers will be crowned as a New York State Burris Racing Weekly Series Champion. Each champion will receive a set of Burris Racing tires, a Burris Racing State Champion jacket and a custom trophy. The runner-up in each division will also receive a set of Burris Racing tires, with the driver finishing in third earning a set of right side Burris Racing tires; all at no cost to competitors.
In total, Burris Racing and DKMP will provide more than $6,500 in contingencies and awards to drivers for supporting their local racing facilities in 2024.
