New Producer | Thatcher’s Imports

An exciting week! Our patience and slow track in adding Burgundy producers to the book paid off. We are thrilled to have a new friend at Thatcher’s Imports,

“Whose wines have you been impressed by?” can open doors to new, exciting winemakers for whom you’d have otherwise been late to the party. So it is that the name Adrien Lattard came up in conversation; a bright, thoughtful and earnest young winemaker with a stellar CV, having been cellar master under Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey and at Genot-Boulanger. Naturally curious and with a tireless work ethic, Adrien has set his ideals within this world: “I want to use my experience to show my work, show my effortI; f you’re a good person, you will make a good wine.”

New Producer | Thatcher’s Imports

Louis Billard, Burgundy, France

We have been dropping some teasers, but it’s almost time for the first release of to make its way to California.

We first met Louis last year in his cellar in La Rochepot. We tasted through his 2022’s and instantly felt the magic, and emotion, his wines showcase.

With the 2022s soon landing on our shores, Louis proudly releases his first vintage under his own label, producing his own wines from the cellars he for so long called home. He’s worked with top growers across several appellations, both in the Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits, looking for the fruit and wines that inspire him, including several vineyards his family long worked with.

Louis spent both the 2018 and 2019 vintages at the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, forming the basis from which he would yield his own winemaking methods. In the spirit of diversification, Louis spent the 2020 vintage alongside Eric Roumier at Chambolle-Musigny’s Domaine G. Roumier; that was followed by spending 2021 in South Africa at Newton Johnson, and 2022 at By Farr in Australia. In other words, he’s learned from the absolute greatest in 3 different continents.

Here we go! Last year we introduced Jan’s 2021 to the US, featuring two single vineyard Pinot’s from the Rheinhessen. If you follow along you may know a bit about Jan’s story. How meticulous he is throughout the process, clear in his vision and goals, and ultimately how that reflects in the glass.

Welcoming back the two benchmark cuvees in 2022, Rosengarten and Burgel, with the introduction of his Cabernet Franc. We promised to show you a new side of Germany through Jan’s wines and we weren’t stopping at Pinot.

Reminiscing of last weekend. landed in LA and we for sure, made the most of 3 days in California. From to for dinner and finals, without missing a quick stop in SF .

Thank you to all those who came to hang out with us, drink some incredible bottles, and make some memories. Between the 14 Chevalier and getting a taste of the new 2022’s I’m still over here soaking it all in…

And thanks to our incredible team for making these things happen.

Thatcher’s Imports | New Producer! .wine

Soon we will be welcoming the second release from , wines that came and went so quickly last year and you all came to love ( also so quickly). In addition to Philine’s wines we are BEYOND thrilled to finally be welcoming the wines of LaLu to California!

All good things come with time? Well we are glad the wait is over. We first connected with Lara and Luisa a few years back in Piedmont while visiting Tom and Philine. We knew the wines and the people making them were special 💫. Originally from Piedmont, Lara and Luisa spent time working in Burgundy with Cecile Tremblay and Comtes Lafon before heading to Barolo and setting their roots. The wait is over and the wines are finally on our way. They are making Nebbiolo in the new fashion we have all come to love while staying true to the varietal and the best expressions the region has to offer.
