Yesterday (1/9/25) marked the first Thursday for the Amtrak to operate under its new regular service schedule. Jan. 13 will mark the first Monday that the train runs regularly as well.

🚆The new Thursday and Monday runs, which will last until March 31, are in addition to the usual Friday, Saturday and Sunday service that passengers have come to expect of the ski train. The five-days-a-week service, now comes with fares 40% lower than previous years too.

Passengers can purchase food and beverages while enjoying panoramic views of the Rockies from the Sightseer Lounge car.

A reminder from RMNP that Colorado Vehicle Traction Law may become active at any time. What does this mean? When vehicle traction law is in effect, all vehicles (including 4-Wheel Drive, All-Wheel Drive, and 2-Wheel Drive) must have properly rated tires (Mud and Snow, Mountain and Snow or All-Weather Tires) with a minimum of 3/16” tread. If your vehicle does not have properly rated tires, you must use an approved traction control device. These may include snow chains, cables, tire/snow socks, or studded tires.

A dusting of new snow down low in the last 24 hours, 4” in the past 48 hours. Crisp tonight under moonlit clear skies with -9° at lake level. About 42” of snow total at upper elevations, picture taken tonight. Gold Run was lightly drifted, now groomed and in excellent shape. Got the 2 feet needed at Chicken Hill to head down Pony Park trail, poles are in place. Trails are getting better, with conditions improving as elevation is gained. Stillwater past the first mile saw improvement after the new snow.
Groomed down into Grand Lake, trail is thin, but mostly smooth, please be gentle to help us keep it open, thank you! Groomed Kawuneeche from Idleglen to Chicken Hill, including South Supply. Down Pony Park trail through the meadows and groomed Gold Run loop. Through Gravel and down Stillwater from Stillwater Pass to Idleglen.
