Your presence—whether as justice-impacted participants sharing lived experience, business leaders eager to learn, or community partners committed to second-chance hiring—made this evening truly meaningful.
Bringing this simulation to life wouldn’t have been possible without the openness and courage of those who stepped into the reentry journey, or the generosity of our partners who helped us host and learn together. Your willingness to listen, to ask hard questions, and to imagine new possibilities for people rebuilding their lives is exactly what communities need to break down barriers and build pathways to purpose.

Imagine every time you applied for a job, employers could look up the worst picture you’d ever taken.
 
If we’d have judged Dakota based on his past (and a terrible picture), we’d have missed out on an excellent hire. 
 
Dakota started with Awake two years ago by getting forklift certified and helping with glass receiving.  His strong work ethic and commitment to success paid off and when a position opened up for a CAD technician.  He applied with no experience and got the job!  His resilient attitude and commitment to solving complex problems made him a great fit.  He took a course in CAD and has done a lot of learning on the job.  He is now working with our sales team to prepare CAD files for the best windows and doors on the market!  Oh yeah, and he got engaged!
 
Employees like Dakota make second chance hiring the smart choice.

To all the employers who didn’t hire Ronnie… you missed out.
 
Ronnie joined our team over two years ago by running one of our saws.  He had perfect attendance and a strong commitment to accuracy that soon led to his promotion to the position of shipping lead.  Under his direction, our shipping team has consistently and accurately sent out $2M-$3M of windows and door products per month! 
 
is so bought into the mission of Awake, that he has become a key volunteer with our community partner, Chief Hill Learning Academy and regularly donates brand new shoes to students with perfect attendance!
 
If we would have judged this guy based on his past, we’d have missed out.  But we didn’t and Ronnie has quickly become a core part of providing our customers with the best window and door products on the market.

🔦Spotlight on Second Chance Month🔦 If we eliminated applicants based on their backgrounds, we’d have missed out on Billy.
 
Billy’s been with the Awake team for 18 months now and has moved from building windows to becoming an important part of our supply chain team!  He keeps track of our inventory and does his rounds every morning to make sure the production team has everything they need to get the job done. 
 
We appreciate Billy’s commitment to detail and the full effort he puts out on the daily.

He’s been with us for almost five months and has quickly got the hang of building Awake windows with care and precision.  He cares about his work and gives 100% to his team. 
 
Nine months of putting in applications and no one picked him up because of his background. Well, their loss was our gain! Thanks for kicking ass Dalawn💪! We are so grateful you are a part of the team!

Yesterday, Team Awake had the privilege of serving the community at Paz de Cristo in Mesa, Arizona. Our team came together to prepare and serve dinner for the unhoused, with Joe Mason leading the way, Frank ensuring the kids got the biggest and best desserts, Danny using his culinary expertise to prep a generous amount of food, and Jessica making sure everyone left with an extra meal for later. The overwhelming gratitude for our team has left us inspired and eager to give back again.

Project Spotlight: Transparent Dream 
Experience breathtaking panoramic canyon views in this San Diego home designed to seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living.
📍 Location: San Diego, CA

✨ Products Used: Window Wall, Operable Windows, Multi-Slide Doors
 
A Vision of Transparency
This home was designed with one goal: to let the canyon take center stage. Architect Matthew Segal wanted the property to feel secondary to the stunning views, and our minimal frame systems were the perfect fit.
To achieve this:
✔️ We customized a bottom rail design system for the multi-slide doors to integrate with fixed and butt glaze windows for an uninterrupted indoor-outdoor connection.
✔️ We prioritized a weather-resistant minimalist aesthetic with meticulous attention to detail.
✔️ Despite the complex customizations, the project was completed in just 11 months!
