@peiranowinery wines are an excellent example of Old World meets New World in viticulture. This fifth-generation winery was started in 1881 with Zinfandel vine cuttings that Giacomo Peirano brought over from his family’s vineyard in Genoa, Italy to start a new life in Lodi, CA. Peirano was one of the first vineyards established in Lodi and has been passed down through each generation for over 100 years. The vineyard has kept to its traditional methods of viticulture and has also expanded over the years to add in more grape varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Viognier and Petite Sirah. At Peirano Vineyards, their goal is to produce wines of bold varietal and character that everyone will enjoy. "This $15 white wine is bright, crisp and pairs well with shellfish" @dmwine in the @washingtonpost reviewed Don't Be Shellfish, a 2022 Loire Valley Muscadet, and said "The untraditional marketing buries the muscadet appellation on the back label, preferring to tout this wine as “perfect … for oysters and seafood.” Muscadet is made with the melon de Bourgogne grape (which has nothing to do with melons or Burgundy), and is known for its affinity to oysters. This charming example rounds out muscadet’s sharp acidity with soft fruit. They might want to add “perfect for patios” to the label."
