Greetings Friends and Neighbors!
This week we are featuring:
RESONANCE ~ PINOT NOIR ~ 2021
Home of some of the planet’s most amazingly elegant and expressive Pinot noir, the Willamette Valley is a pastoral, mixed landscape of green, bucolic rolling hills, dramatic forestlands and small, independent, friendly wine growers. As a leader in environmental stewardship, the valley has some of the nation’s most protective land use policies, with two-thirds of its vineyards farmed sustainably and over half, organically. While the valley claims a cool, continental climate, and is heavily influenced by the cold, moist winds of the Pacific Ocean, its warm and dry summers allow for the steady, even ripening of Pinot noir.
The potential of Willamette Valley Pinot noir continues to attract the investment of serious growers and winemakers both locally and from abroad, as naturally the finished wines bring accolades from professionals and enthusiasts. With a range of styles from delicate dried cherry, raspberry and hibiscus to stronger notes of truffle, mocha, plum and spice, a fine Willamette Valley Pinot noir is a perfect expression of both character and grace.
Critic tasting note: "The 2021 Résonance Pinot Noir delivers an enchanting bouquet of spiced cherries, pomegranate, raspberry, and tart red plum that waft atop a cedar spice and clove baseline. Texturally, it is ample and lush, leaning into those fruit notes but with a fantastically savory edge and sandy tannins leading to a vibrant, luxuriant finish. There is a slight mineral vein running throughout that will please fans of Burgundy and the New World alike. (Miranda Franco)" - 93/100, Wine LASSEGUE 2019
Winemaker Notes: The 2019 vintage of Lassègue is characterized by its freshness and purity. The wine shows a beautiful ruby color in the glass, limpid and brilliant. The nose is aromatic and precise, with red fruit that wafts from the glass at first aeration, followed by subtle notes of rose petal and licorice. The palate displays remarkable freshness, elegance and finesse. The attack is dense with a core of ripe red fruit, and a rich and precise mid-palate leading to a prolonged finish carried by seamlessly integrated silky tannins. The power, balance and minerality of this vintage reflect the complexity of the clay and limestone soils of the Côte de Saint-Émilion. A great vintage that will reach its peak in 15-20 years.
Blend: 58% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
