Last Fourth of July cocktail recipe is the best, as far as cocktail names go.

FIREWORKS RED, WHITE & BLUE DAIQUIRIS
This boozy layered slush features some surprising flavors in each color of the American flag. The blue layer is flavored with passion fruit liqueur, while the red layer features strawberry and juicy watermelon. The white layer balances the fruitiness with creamy coconut sorbet.

DIRECTIONS:
-Combine 6 ounces each coconut rum and blue curacao, 3 ounces lemon juice and 2 tablespoons superfine sugar in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
-Shake until very cold, then strain into 6 short glasses filled with ice.
-Garnish each with a maraschino cherry, pineapple wedge, orange slice and a drink umbrella.

IF you have patience and IF you enjoy OUZO, then do we have a cocktail for you! It may have a lot of instruction, however it's worth it. And no, this is not red, white or blue but OUZO lovers need some love back!

OUZO SPRITZ with PICKELED WATERMELON RIND
If you're the type who doesn't do ordinary, then this is the cocktail for you. The star is an anise-flavored Greek spirit called ouzo, which turns milky when mixed with water. A garnish of pickled watermelon rind really makes this cocktail unique.

PICKLED WATERMELON RIND:
1 small watermelon
2 cups apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon kosher salt
6 black peppercorns
1 cinnamon stick
1 whole star anise

OUZO SPRITZ:
Ice, for serving
4 ounces ouzo
Juice of 2 lemons
2 egg whites
1 to 2 tablespoons watermelon pickling liquid
Seltzer water, for serving
Mint sprigs, for serving

DIRECTIONS:
For the PICKELED WATERMELON RIND:
-Slice off each end of the watermelon and discard.
-Stand the watermelon up and begin trimming the thin green layer off, leaving the white pith layer on the watermelon. Depending on the size, slice the watermelon in half widthwise so it is easier to work with.
-Trim the white rind off in the same way the green rind was removed. When all the white rind has been removed, trim each piece into a 1-by-6-inch plank.
-Trim any remaining pink parts off.
-Wedge as many planks as you can into a 32-ounce wide-mouthed glass jar with lid. Discard the rest.
-Combine the cider vinegar, 1 cup water, sugar, salt and aromatics in a saucepot over high heat and bring to a boil.
-Whisk to dissolve the sugar, then pour over the rinds while hot.
-Allow to cool to room temperature before refrigerating.
-Refrigerate overnight before using. The rinds will keep up to 1 month in the refrigerator.
For the OUZO SPRITZ:
-Fill 2 lowball glasses with ice.
-Place the ouzo, lemon juice, egg whites and pickling liquid in a cocktail shaker without ice.
-Vigorously shake to froth the egg whites, then strain into the glasses.
-Top with seltzer and garnish with a spear of pickled watermelon rind and a sprig of mint.

Summer wouldn't be the same without watermelon!

WATERMELON LIME COCKTAIL - Watermelon “ice cubes” and fresh lime juice are the stars of this simple and refreshing cocktail. Perfect for light dinner drinks and sweet enough to be considered dessert.

INGREDIENTS:
1 small seedless watermelon
2 medium limes*
2 shots white rum (Bacardi)
2 Tbsp sugar
1 liter club soda

INSTRUCTIONS:
-Slice 3/4 of a seedless watermelon into cubes, reserving one quarter for juice, and place in a bag and freeze for several hours or preferably overnight.
-In a strainer over a bowl, press the remaining chunks of fresh watermelon with a muddler or flat surface until most of the juice is extracted.
-Slice limes into quarters and squeeze the juice of one fruit into each serving glass, throwing the limes into the glass along with it. (Only use half of a lime instead of 2 medium limes if you prefer a drink that’s not as tart.)
-Add 1 tbsp sugar and one shot (2 Tbsp // 30 ml) of white rum to each serving glass and muddle until well mixed.
-Fill to the brim with watermelon ice cubes, add a healthy splash of watermelon juice (about 1/4 cup), and top off with club soda.
-Stir, garnish with lime wedge, and serve with a straw.

WHISKEY CLUB JUNE OFFERING #23 - SAZERAC RYE

The one and only New Orleans original. Sazerac Rye Whiskey symbolizes the tradition and history of New Orleans. Rye Whiskey dates back to the 1800s, around the time when saloons, veiled as Coffee Houses, began lining the streets of New Orleans. It was at the Sazerac Coffee House on Royal Street where local patrons were served toddies made with Rye Whiskey and Peychaud’s Bitters. The libation became known as the “Sazerac” and America’s first branded cocktail was born. This is the whiskey that started it all.

AROMA: The fragrance is of clove, sweet vanilla, anise and pepper.
FLAVOR: The taste has subtle notes of candies, spice and crisp citrus.
FINISH: The big finish is smooth with hints of licorice.

Lime cocktails are the most popular and the number of recipes are numerous. Y'all know the margarita and the mojito, but have you ever heard of the MOJITARITA?

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish
1/2 cup (125 ml) freshly squeezed lime juice
2 tablespoons (30 g) granulated sugar
8 ounces (250 ml) silver tequila
Cold soda water or sparkling water
1 lime, sliced into thin wheels

STEPS:
-Get a simple cocktail shaker (or beg or borrow one) — you don’t need a fancy one. Be sure to shake vigorously to dissolve the sugar and bruise the mint for the best flavor.
-Squeeze your own fresh lime juice — please don’t even think of using bottled stuff.
-Crushed ice is ideal for filling the shaker

WHISKEY CLUB JUNE OFFERING #22 - HEAVEN HILL BOTTLED-IN-BOND

This Kentucky Bourbon pays tribute to the earliest days of the Distillery’s history when in 1939 it released Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond. The namesake brand quickly became the number-one-selling Bourbon whiskey in the state of Kentucky. Still today, the craftsmanship poured into this bottle by the same founding family meets the exacting standards first set forth in the Bottled-in-Bond act of 1897.

Proof: 100 Proof
Age: 7 Years Old
COLOR: Golden amber
AROMA: Warm notes of vanilla, honey, and a rich caramel sweetness
TASTE: Smooth, warm and sweet with a subtle rye spice note; caramel and honey mingle with just enough oak and char to round out the richness
FINISH: Long, lingering

Kicking off our Fourth of July cocktail ideas is a fun way to turn ANY drink into a red, white & blue.

DIRECTIONS - Turn summer drinks into firecrackers by coating the glass rims with Pop Rocks. Just dampen with lemon juice, then dip the rims in the candies on a plate. To get the red-white-and-blue effect, use Tropical Punch (blue) Pop Rocks, then fill the glasses with any red drink or cocktail; we mixed pomegranate and cranberry juice with seltzer.
