Start this year with some wonderful Syrah! 🍷
Terre Rouge Côtes de l’Ouest - Winemaker Bill Easton is one of the original Rhône Rangers and pioneered the Rhône varietals in the Sierra Foothills in the late 80s. His wines are balanced and elegant, with complexity that develops as the wines age in bottle. Concentrated and supple with fine-grained tannins and notes of blueberry, strawberry, cracked black pepper, pencil lead, and sage.
St Julien en St Alban Eric Texier - Syrah planted on a south-facing slope on granite soils in the warm St-Julien-en-St-Alban zone at the southern edge of the northern Rhône Valley. No sulfur used. Deep bouquet, ripe, mix of cassis, pepper, espresso, grilled venison, a nice touch of black olive, granite soil tones and plenty of smokiness.
Alain Graillot Crozes Hermitage - In the Northern Rhone Valley, there are few names as revered as Graillot. Hand-harvesting, organic farming, and whole-cluster fermentation are the name of the game with Graillot. The wine achieves amazing concentration of fruit with notes of blackberries, black pepper, black olives, and meaty richness that make this powerful round Syrah.
Allemand Cornas Chaillot - There might not be a more unique figure in the Northern Rhône than Thiérry Allemand. Chaillot is one of the great terroirs of Cornas, with soil of clay of limestone, and very steep, south-facing slopes. These wines display the classic Cornas dark berries, woodsmoke, dried herb and black olive flavors, with amazing freshness and definition.
Domaine Jamet Côte Rôtie - Jamet is the pinnacle of traditional Côte Rôtie. 25 plots spread across 17 lieux-dits, the wine ages in piéces and demi-muids, only 20% new, for about two years and is neither fined nor filtered. Extremely perfumed, vibrant black and blue fruit with the classic olive and mineral finish. Words cannot express our love for this wine.
