Canayli 2020 • Vermentino di Gallura

In Tempio Pausania, at the foot of the Limbara, the winery has collected the age-old tradition of wine-growers of high Gallura, already known in the nineteenth century also outside islanders for producing a muscat(moscato) of excellence. The strict selection systems, modern winemaking process and aging in barrels, produce high quality wines with organoleptic characteristics attuned to the changing tastes and needs of consumers. Spearhead of the Cantina Gallura is the "Vermentino di Gallura", the only wine in Sardinia awarded, since 1996, of the aspired Denomination of Origin Controlled and Guaranteed.

The five types products Canayli and Genesis (the Superior), Piras, Gemellae and Mavriana, all of excellent quality, are the result of the most advanced technologies: wines that have won many national and international awards. Besides the native cultivars, Vermentino, Cannonau, Moscato, Pascale, Caricagiola, members of the Cantina Gallura grow the "Nebbiolo" vine, latter imported from Piedmont in 1700. From the vinification of these grapes are obtained three wines of quality, Karana, Dolmen and the new Luna Nova which quickly imposed themselves to the attention of audiences and critics.

Vermentino di Gallura aroma delicately fruity and floral with good persistence on the palate with a nice round texture. Aged for 6 months in stainless steel casks. On the palate you will taste white melons, pine resin, sage and thyme. This wine will pair great with seafood.

Barebottle Brewing Company was co-founded by Lester Koga, Michael Seitz, and Ben Sterling, three friends and former classmates at Cornell Business School in Ithaca, NY. After moving from Ithaca to the Bay Area in 2007, the three began homebrewing, became certified beer judges, and began winning medals at homebrewing competitions. Barebottle brews innovative beers inspired by the San Francisco Bay Area using local ingredients wherever possible, and partners with local homebrewing groups to develop new beers using a competitive method.

This IPA maximizes juiciness with the pareto optimal choice of Citra, El Dorado, and Idaho 7 hops.

Furthur Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Furthur is a 1939 school bus that was purchased in 1964 by Ken Kesey using his earnings from his best-selling novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. In the same year, Ken and his group of "Merry Pranksters", wild with life and a lust for big fun, painted the school bus in Dayglo colors and filmed its "trip" across the U.S. The bus played a huge role as a symbol of the counterculture movement of the 1960s. Since then, the Furthur bus spent many years exposed to the elements in a swamp behind the Kesey farm. Portions of the proceeds from this bourbon will be used towards restoring the bus.
The entry nose and palate are soft, displaying obvious bourbon notes of caramel. Then it evolves to an enjoyable herbal peach flavor and a chocolate mint finish. Surprisingly unique bottling of MGP's 5yr Bourbon. Two thumbs up!

Brooks • 2021 Pinot Gris

Peace, Bread, Land, Wine. Words you’ll see on our bottles and across the brand. Brooks is the living legacy of Jimi Brooks. In ways big and small, we continue to embrace his strong commitment to biodynamic farming, his gentle approach to winemaking and his excitement for the Willamette Valley.

Rain events at the beginning of bloom diminished yields, and a dry summer was punctuated with unprecedented heatwaves. The timing worked in our favor since the heat happened pre-veraison, and the vines handled it well. Harvest started in early September, but lower temperatures across the state allowed for a long and measured harvest season, with harvest extending into mid-October. No disease, high sugars, balanced acids, and great flavors. 2021 will undoubtedly rank as one of the top Oregon vintages.

A lovely and rich Pinot Gris with lively notes of nectarine, lemon, peach blossom, and golden delicious apple with a saline, Fleur de sel finish.

Comprised of Pinot Gris grapes from the Logsdon Ridge Vineyard. The vines were planted in the late ’90s in glacial deposit-Willamette and Woodburn soil.

In 1971, the Waldos met one afternoon at 4:20 in the front courtyard of their school near the statue of Louis Pasteur. They set out in a ’66 Impala armed with a “treasure map” on a journey to find a secret garden near Point Reyes. They met there at the same time every day and continued their quest. They never found the secret garden….But they keep lookin’. So we keep brewin’ this beer every year in time for 4/20. For all the treasure hunters everywhere.

Triple IPA, huh? For perspective, an IPA already expresses bold hop characteristics. Kavalan Distillery Select Taiwanese Whisky

Kavalan Distillery has been pioneering the art of single malt whisky in Yilan County, Taiwan since 2005. Kavalan sources the mineral-rich meltwaters of Snow Mountain and is aged in a unique combination of intense heat and humidity together with sea and mountain breezes. All this combines to create the quality, smoothness, and fruity character for which Kavalan is known.

This whisky was blended with the idea of cocktails in mind. Light gold color, orange zest, caramel spice & dried mango. Not smooth when you drink it neat, but bursting with flavor in a highball.

Bordiga was started in 1888 by Pietro Bordiga, a bartender in Torino when the city was the epicenter of Italian spirts and cocktail culture. He decided to locate his distillery in the small town of Cuneo because it offered him a strategic position a little over an hour south of Torino, and also close to the Occitan Alps, where he was sourcing his wild botanicals. The climate there, influenced equally by altitude and proximity to the Mediterranean sea, creates herbs that are particularly rich in essential oils and aromas. His great-grandson, also named Pietro Bordiga, still lives above the
distillery.

1792 Bottled-In-Bond 'Deer Park Single Barrel' Bourbon

We're celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Bottled-In-Bond Act passed by Congress in 1897. Distillers could opt to have their warehouses supervised by government agents, and drinkers could ensure the authenticity of their whiskey during a time rampant with bootlegging imposters. To wear the 'Bottled-In-Bond' label, a whiskey must be made by one distiller at one distillery during one distilling season. It will always be a minimum of 4 years aged and bottled at 100 proof.

Angel's Envy 'Deer Park Private Selection' Port Finish Bourbon

Trail Marker Wine Co. sources their fruit from small, responsibly farmed and passionately cared for vineyards from Mendocino to Santa Ynez and everywhere in between. Their winemaking style allows them to make wines that are high acid, low alcohol — well balanced expressions of these excellent vineyards.

Their 2018 Saveria Vineyard Pinot Noir is a Santa Cruz Mountains classic.

A deep ruby color in the glass. Some white pepper oil with lifted eucalyptus tones, the wine presents with a good amount of texture upfront but fades to a soft acidity. The finish is well rounded with notes of violet and soft caramel.

This wine pairs nicely with beef, veal and poultry.

Panamá Pacific’s distinctive 23-year-old expression begins with freshly distilled sugar cane molasses placed in initially used American oak bourbon whiskey casks for 3 years before a 20-year finish in Canadian and Tennessee rye whiskey casks that have been toasted, not charred. The interaction between these barrels maintains the desired balance between the intrinsic qualities of the rum and the characteristics introduced by the oak.

This rum opens with aromas of vanilla, tannins and sugar toasted in Irish butter melting with coconut, banana and cherry and almond batter. On the palate it features a delicate caramel butter, before a bright heat that leads to rich wood, a bit more cherry-almond, then crushed cocoa nibs. Delicious dessert notes fade to wood at the end.

It's Bottled-In-Bond Day!

On this day in 1897 the US Government passed the Bottled-In-Bond Act, ensuring that whiskey drinkers would know their beverage was the real deal. This historic legislation not only disrupted the rampant bootlegging market, but also gave tax incentives to participating distillers as well as facilitating a smooth tax revenue for Uncle Sam.

What does that mean for your whiskey? You can be sure it was distilled by one distiller, at one distillery, in a single distilling season (spring or fall). The spirit was also aged a minimum of 4 yrs in government warehouses under the supervision of armed guards (not so necessary anymore).
