There once lived a very devoted bramhin named Pundit Shridhar, in the very picturesque village of Hansali, which is situated adjacent to present day Katra, Kashmir. Hansali was beautifully surrounded on all sides by trees and brooks, creating an enthralling view of nature. In the midst of this atmosphere, there was a reverberating sound from the mountains of Trikutaโฆ
โI donโt know hymns; I donโt know formal worship; I donโt know your shape. Neither do I know the method of meditation nor postures of meditationโฆI am the greatest sinner; I am the evil-doer and You are evil-destroyer. Benevolent Mother, please destroy all my sins and help me to attain that which I deserve.โ
โVictory to you, Mother Bhavani,โ exclaimed Pundit Shridhar, his throat choking as tears streamed down his cheeks and his lips quivered. He asked, dear Mother, โYou are the greatest of the great. You are the knower of the known and unknown. Why donโt you accept my prayers? What are my shortcomings in your worship? O Goddess, be benign unto me. Pardon my sins or else tell me in person why children canโt adore my home? How can my line of progenitors continue without my descendants?โ
Suddenly a murmuring sound emanated from the fallen leaves and the sounds of anklets filled the air. Shridhar glanced in that direction and the rays of the blazing sun warmed his face. The entire atmosphere appeared blissful. He was about to worship nine little girls when his eyes noticed a ravishing face, saturated with beauty and splendour. He stood astonished at what seemed like a thousand suns radiating on this beautiful girlโs face. Her face was innocent, as if a thousand lotuses had blossomed. She was bedecked in red clothing and wore anklets. She was never before seen in the village.
The girl placed her foot before Shridhar, which he washed in the worship of the little girls. He also completed the worship of the other eight little girls and one boy in attendance. He served them flowers, food and โdakshinaโ (monetary offering). The eight girls and boy departed, however this beautiful divine girl lingered longer. She was the Divine Goddess in the form of a little girl, and she then said to Shridhar, โI have come to you for an important job. Please invite the people of your village to your home for a bhandara (feast) in the name of God on the eighth lunar day (Ashthami) of the Navraatri.โ She swiftly disappeared before Shridhar could question her further. He stood perplexed as to the identity of this divine girl. He became anxious as to how he will arrange the bhandara as instructed by the Goddess. However, having some intuition, he thought the mysterious girl to be divine and who wanted to test his devotion. He resolved to execute the instructions laid by the young girl and proceeded to extend invitations amongst his fellow villagers, all the while pondering whether he will be able to provide the eatables and fulfil the requirements for the large congregation.
Guru Gorakh Nath was amongst the invitees to the bhandara and upon receiving the invitation he enquired the reason for the performance of such a feast, and when told by Shridhar, Guru Gorakh Nath replied, โWhat harm is there to undertake the test? We should attend and witness it ourselves to see the identity of this girl.โ The guru raised his hands in acceptance of Shridharโs invitation.

GET READY ..... DEVI MAA IS COMING ON 7 OCT.
Devi Durga has been glorified in various shastras like Devi Bhagwat Purana. She is considered as a divine potency responsible for keeping this material world in order and decorum.
Devi Durga is considered as the feminine epitome of strength. She is depicted in variety of Vedic literature as a goddess having feminine prowess, power, determination, wisdom and punishment much beyond this material world. Those who seek prosperity in this material world in terms of material powers and wealth, also ardently worship her.
Durga means the the one in-charge of this material world, also termed as โdurgโ. The word โdurgโ comes from two Sanskrit words, โduโ meaning difficult and โgaโ meaning cross over. Therefore, the word โdurgโ means the fort that is difficult to cross over.
As per Srimad Bhagwatam, this material world is stated as Padam Padam yad vipadam na tesam, that is, dangerous at every step and hence, difficult to cross over.
Durga is possessed of โdurgaโ, which means a prison house. When souls โ begotten of marginal potency โ forget the service of the supreme personality of godhead, they are confined in the mundane prison house, the citadel of Durga.
Devi Durga has been glorified in various shastras like Devi Bhagwat Purana. She is considered as a divine potency responsible for keeping this material world in order and decorum. As per Brahma Samhita ; she is the reflection or shadow of Rama Devi, the spiritual Shakti of the Supreme Lord in his transcendental abode.
Devi Durga is the prime fountainhead of her various forms, each having a distinguished identity from each other. But, her primary form comprises of all the features of her expansions and incarnations. ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅMKC๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
