Our location provides easy access to all of what Chiang Mai has to offer whether it's hiking, mountain biking and rafting or ziplining. The hot spring is only twenty minutes away where you can soak your feet in warm mineral water while you're waiting for your eggs to finish cooking in the boiling water closer to the source. Fo
r those who want to experience local Thai culture our neighborhood is ideal. Our soi (street) is off the main highway (1317) and winds its way past mom-and-pop markets and local small shops mixed between residential homes. There's a beauty salon, barber, drugstore, dentist, laundromat, a few mechanics and a number of small bars and restaurants which open in the evenings. There are three Wat (Thai temple) which service the adjoining neighborhoods. One can watch the local festivities and Buddhist holiday ceremonies or delight in the street parades organized by the villagers. A few nights a week there's a dance class right next to our temple where you can learn traditional Thai dancing. Shuttle service is available to take villagers to one of the newest shopping malls, Promenada Resort Mall, which is four minutes away. The mall has a cinema, shops, a cafeteria and upscale restaurants as well as a Rimping market where you can get just about anything from around the world. They have a bakery on the premises which offers freshly-baked, wholesome European-style breads and a deli with a wide assortment of imported cured meats and cheeses. The local market, where you can get fresh meat and vegetables daily, is a couple of minutes away. In this complex is an air-conditioned prepared food court which has a variety of Thai dishes as well as a Seven-Eleven convenience store which is two minutes away from the Seven-Eleven and Tesco-Lotus in the other direction. Our little oasis is nestled in at the midpoint of our soi. Our driveway is directly across from the corner of Wat Ton Yang Luang, look for the sign, 'Tao's Residence.' The property is at the end of the driveway secluded from the street which makes for quiet days and evenings when you're home. The central lawn and garden is surrounded by the main family residence and five rental bungalows. The two studio units have air conditioning and refrigerators but no kitchen. The one-bedroom, one-bath unit and the two-bedroom, two-bath units are air conditioned and have full kitchens. Wi-fi is provided for all units without charge. Maid service and laundry are available. We have motorcycles for rent as well. Transportation to and from the airport is gratuitous. Our compound is a family affair where visitors are welcomed warmly. Upon turning onto our soi please proceed slowly as you fall back in time and enjoy the ride. Please try not to run over any dogs, especially the ones in our driveway. Don't worry about the chickens, for a cheap thrill, they like to run in front of your vehicle, just to run off in the nick of time. Summarizing, the Tao's residence is the perfect location to experience Chiang Mai for a short visit or extended stay.
