Dear Lalamove,

It has come to our attention that on Sunday, the 13th of November 2022, one of your riders and our dispatch staff partook in a heated argument regarding the delivery of the wrong orders to the wrong address.

At roughly 4.30 pm our order dispatcher was notified about the delivery of a wrong order intended for another location by a customer. Comprehending what happened, our dispatcher immediately contacted the rider to inform him about the situation, to which he was met with blame. Accusing that he was the individual responsible for sending the driver the wrong delivery order for the wrong location when the rider came to pick up the orders at 3.45 pm. However, this was impossible because all orders packed will be tagged with an order list and also the address of its intended delivery. A fact that was confirmed by the customers expecting their delivery but received the wrong ones. As our dispatcher tried to get the rider to return and redeliver the orders to the correct address, he was met with constant blame that it was his fault no matter how hard he tried to reason. Unable to withstand the endless barrage of abuse, our dispatcher snapped and used expletives to describe the rider’s character before eventually hanging up as he wanted to rectify the issue on his own as soon as possible.

Upon conducting our own investigations on the issue, we would like to take full responsibility for the fact that expletives were used by our dispatcher during the argument and would like to apologize. However, we also came to understand that even after the heated exchange on the phone ended, the Lalamove rider continued to harass our dispatcher over text messages with threats. Causing our dispatcher to be shaken up both emotionally and physically.

The threats sent over text could be categorized as:

1. Stalking and Sexual harassment (Image 1)
2. Degrading of one’s dignity (Image 2)

Addressing these ill-intentioned messages, here at Prime Liquor, we do not condone such behaviour from both our staff and external parties. However, what was done to our staff by the rider has deeply impacted both his physical and mental well-being. Prime Liquor would like to emphasize that our staff’s well-being is our utmost responsibility as they are the people that keep this company going. Any threats towards them will be taken seriously and investigated and if found to be true will be handed over to the police.

It is tough that our staff has to be placed under the constant pressure of the service industry, dealing with unreasonable customers and also uneasy delivery couriers. Prime Liquor would like to implore all colleagues from the service industry to stand up for themselves and call out any wrongdoings or mistreatment should they encounter it.

With that being said, we hope that Lalamove would also look into this situation and provide us with proper feedback after your investigations. This matter has seriously affected our company’s spirit and the only way forward is to properly address it before allowing the matter to go to rest.
