Is there a difference between whisky and Bourbon ?
If you order whisky at a bar, thinking you’ll get bourbon, well, maybe you won’t. That’s like ordering fish at a restaurant and expecting salmon every time.
Here’e why how Bourbon is different from your regular whisky
1️⃣ Whisky can be made from a variety of fermented grains including barley, corn, rye, or wheat, whereas bourbon must contain a minimum of 51% corn.
2️⃣ Whisky can be produced anywhere in the world without, however in bourbon, which must be produced in the United States according to specific legal requirements.
3️⃣ While the taste of whisky can range from simple to complex or nuanced depending on quality levels and aging process, bourbon is typically aged in new, charred oak barrels, resulting in a richer, sweeter flavour and a smoother palate, generally with alcohol levels no higher than 62.5% ABV.
So, which one is better? Simple, the one that is enjoyed with friends and family over lots of banter and fun.
