The inspiration for grew from the experiences Julianne had working for small, dedicated family run wineries in Napa Valley, USA and Margaret River, Western Australia.

These small-scale wineries showed that equipped with a hands on approach and a devotion to quality it is possible to make great wine.
The realisation that smallness was not a barrier but could be an asset in producing wines of great quality sparked a desire in Julianne to craft exceptional wines from her home region of Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand.

Our entry for Dish of the bay pairs excellently with many wines on our list. But a local drop that goes swimmingly well is the .wine Chardonnay.
Very delicate in colour, almost antique white gold in the glass. Light and refreshing on the nose with a bright chalkiness we always find in Helio.
Be sure to ask for a glass when you pop in to try our Dish of the bay entry "That F.I.S.H"

When Pieter was on the hunt for the perfect piece of land to grow grapes and lay down some roots, he stumbled upon our picturesque little corner of the world - a stretch of rolling hills at the edge of Heretaunga plains, on the outskirts of P**ipaki.
The hillsides are layered with loamy topsoil atop ribbons of clay, over white limestone baserock. The plains below have much richer, ashy silt-loam soils.
"The north-facing slopes expose our vines to abundant sunlight, while relatively dense plantings help keep per vine yields naturally on the lower side. The surrounding hills act as a sheild, providing us some protection from the seasonal storms that can sweep through the Bay - our own 'micro-climate' "

You'll be discovering, enjoying and learning about South African wines with Micro, the new kid on the 495 block, in this delicious 2 hour master class.
