On Wednesday 27th March 2024, the leadership team of Guinness Nigeria, led by our MD/CEO, Adebayo Alli, had the privilege of paying a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) – Mr. Zacchaeus Adedeji, at their Headquarters in Abuja.

We are pleased to share that during our visit, the FIRS Executive Chairman expressed profound appreciation for Guinness Nigeria's commitment to compliance and our longstanding collaborative relationship.

Our discussions with FIRS delved into crucial matters impacting both our operations and the broader business landscape. The FIRS Chairman highlighted the agency's dedication to streamlining the tax system by establishing a centralized one-stop shop for taxpayer activities.

Furthermore, the Executive Chairman shared insightful government initiatives aimed at enhancing the business environment, including plans to streamline taxes to a total of nine, boost consumer purchasing power, and address infrastructure challenges.

Our recent dialogue with FIRS marked another milestone in our journey towards partnering with the Federal Government. On Wednesday 27th March 2024, Guinness Nigeria, led by our MD/CEO, Adebayo Alli, paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Minister of Environment – Mr. Balarabe Abbas Lawal, at the Head Office of the Federal Ministry of Environment, in Abuja.

During the meeting, the Minister and his Management team commended Guinness Nigeria's sustainability initiatives and expressed their heartfelt appreciation for our unwavering environmental compliance.

Discussions centred on exploring collaboration opportunities, including the prospect of joining the esteemed "Friends of Environment" group. Guinness Nigeria reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to sustainability, shedding light on our ongoing efforts in that regard.

Our Domestic & Family Abuse Guidelines & Leave exemplify our unwavering commitment to fostering a safe and supportive working environment that respects and accommodates employees who may be experiencing Domestic & Family Abuse. Our primary objective is to ensure that they feel secure, empowered, and encouraged to disclose any instances of abuse and seek the necessary help.

Leave: As part of our comprehensive support system, we offer up to 10 days of discretionary paid Domestic & Family Abuse leave per 12-month period. This leave is available to employees and their family members, enabling them to attend court proceedings, seek legal assistance, secure alternative housing away from the perpetrator, or fulfill any other obligations related to domestic & family abuse as mandated by local law.

Furthermore, we provide a comprehensive Domestic & Family Abuse Toolkit, which serves as a valuable resource for employees impacted by Domestic & Family Abuse. WATER FOR PEACE: HAPPY WORLD WATER DAY!
Today, as the world celebrates World Water Day, we reflect on our journey of water stewardship in Nigeria, which began with the inception of Society 2030: Spirit of Progress and the ambitious goals outlined in that strategy.

We are proud to announce that Guinness Nigeria has not only met but surpassed our F26 water replenishment target. This achievement underscores our commitment to responsible water management and sustainability.

Additionally, our Water Efficiency metric (brew & pack) has shown significant improvement, from 4.5l/l in F20 to 2.4l/l by H1 F24. This means that for every 1 litre of product we brew and package, we now use 2.6 litres of water in its brewing and all associated processes. This represents an impressive improvement of over 53%.

Furthermore, we have commissioned 11 solar-powered motorized water projects across 11 local areas, further demonstrating our dedication to providing access to clean water in communities where we operate.

Yes, we are on a journey, and we are conscious the road ahead is largely uncharted, we are nonetheless super proud of how far we have come, please join us as we raise a glass of clean, potable water to celebrate this year’s World Water Day.

“Globally, approximately 10% of women go through the heartbreaking experience of a miscarriage at some point in their lives. At Guinness Nigeria, we have implemented pregnancy loss guidelines that provide comprehensive support to our employees who directly or indirectly face this situation. We understand the importance of ensuring our employees have the necessary time and resources to cope with such a difficult time.

For pregnancies lost before the 24-week mark, all employees, including partners and surrogates, are entitled to take up to 10 working days of paid leave.

For pregnancies lost after the 24-week mark, female employees are eligible for up to 6 months of paid leave, in accordance with our Family leave policy.

Partners and surrogates who experience a pregnancy loss after 24 weeks are entitled to up to 10 working days of paid leave to support them during this challenging time.

On Friday 15th March 2024, a pivotal meeting held between the Executive Committee of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Export Promotion Group (MANEG) and Mr. Taiwo Oyedele the distinguished Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.

Among the executive committee members present is our Corporate Relations Director – Mr. Rotimi Odusola, who is also the chairman, Other African Countries for MANEG. Other notable figures include: the Chairman of the Executive Committee of MANEG - Mrs. Odiri Erewa-Meggison, FCIS, Mr. Benedict Obhiosa - the Executive Secretary of MANEG – and Mr. Stephen Usih – a member of the Executive Committee of MANEG.

At the meeting, the attendees discussed the crucial step towards fortifying Nigeria's export sector to enhance the competitiveness of Nigerian exporters, foster sustainable growth, and pave the way for a prosperous economic future.

Exciting News! Guinness Nigeria PLC is thrilled to announce the recent award of scholarships to deserving undergraduates in Nigerian public universities and trainees at the Nigeria Federal Society for the Blind.

Our commitment to advancing education and human capital development in Nigeria remains steadfast. Through our scholarship program, we're empowering future leaders to excel in their academic pursuits and contribute to the nation's growth, particularly in STEM fields. Last year's ceremony witnessed the award of scholarship to additional 23 deserving undergraduates from various public universities across the nation as well as 5 trainees from the Nigeria Federal Society for the Blind, bringing the number of young people on the scheme to 79. We're proud to support these talented individuals on their journey to success.

Flashback to the memorable commissioning of 3 Solar-Powered Motorized Water Infrastructures in Eruwa, New Eruwa and Lanlate communities. It was an Epoch-making day in Ibarapa East LGA of Oyo State as Guinness Nigeria Plc in partnership with Water Aid Nigeria commissioned 3 solar-powered motorized water infrastructures in Eruwa, New Eruwa and Lanlate communities on the 2nd of November 2023. The infrastructures have the capacity to produce water in tens of millions of litres per annum and are poised to serve about 11,500 residents; the project was designed to be gender inclusive with a community WASH committee comprising of 57% women who will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the 3 facilities as well as their long-term sustenance.
