President Bola Tinubu’s decision on his inauguration day to remove petrol subsidy has imposed an extra burden on citizens.

Herdsmen kill two Plateau teachers, youths demand ban on open grazing

It was learnt that the victims were a newly married couple who were teaching at the BECO Comprehensive Secondary school in the Kwi of riyom local government area plateau state

According to punch news, the herdsmen opened fire on the victims when they requested the herdsmen to evacuate their cattles from the school compound.

Plateau State gets new Commissioner of Police CP Okoro Julius Alawari who resumed duties on Friday, August 11.

CP Okoro who hails from Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, holds a Bachelor of Art degree in History at Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma in 1987 and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 2010.

He was commissioned as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in March, 1990, and has served in various capacities, making tremendous impact across different States of the Federation.

The CP from his early days as an Assistant Superintendent of Police and rising to the rank of Deputy Commissioner Police, has served the nation in various capacities which includes, Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), Divisional Traffic Officer (DTO), Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Tactical Team Commander, Area Commander, Head, Department of Finance and Administration, Operations and Investigation.

He was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP) in March, 2022 and was posted as Force Provost Marshal, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and later to Benue State Command as Commissioner of Police where he served last before his posting to Plateau State Command as the 43rd Commissioner of Police.

His pledge to Plateau residents is to continue to improve in the duty of protecting lives and properties, maintaining law and order, while creating a safe environment for all Plateau State citizens to live in.

He told me that his name is MARTINS MARKUS.
He said he's from Barikin Ladi, Jos, Plateau State.
That his mother's name is RIFKATU.

I met him in kuzuntu village, Kubau LGA, Kaduna state even before rounding up my last academic season in April.
I still returned and met him this August in same place.

He has psychological disorder, but looks curable.

MASSACRE IN PLATEAU AS GUNMEN KILL 21 VILLAGERS IN BARKIN LADI

Unknown gunmen have killed 21 people in Baton and Rayogot, Heipang District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Movement (BYM), a socio-cultural group, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Jos.

“Twenty-one people have been killed in an attack in two different villages in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi.

"The attackers, who came around 1:26 a.m. killed 17 People at Batin of Heipang town while four others were killed at Rayogot.

”Seven other persons sustained various degrees of injuries,” he said.

The spokesperson, however, called on residents of the communities to remain calm and be law abiding.

In a swift reaction to the incident, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau condemned the attacks and called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book.
