First time trying Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cherbaudes 2017 from Charles Van Canneyt. The wine has a smooth and delicate profile with captivating flavours that really show off the elegant side of Gevrey Chambertin. Charles Van Canneyt founded his personal brand and is also the current owner of his family estate, the prestigious Domaine Hudelot Noellat.

We love this Joh Jos Prum 2013 Graacher Himmelreich Auslese, which offers layers of blossom, apricot, pineapple, honey, marmalade, and hints of spice. In contrast, the Bouchard Montrachet 1998, though mature for its vintage, still offers delightful aromas of pear, almond, cheese, butter, and honey. Amazing treat for our team lunch!

The Pontiff Rose 2008 is a rare Rose wine made by Sine Qua Non. It exudes an abundance of rich fruit flavours, showcasing layers of cherry liqueur, plum, candied cherries, strawberries, pepper, and spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet smooth, with a harmonious balance between its 15.7% alcohol content and the lush fruitiness, creating a warm sensation that feels perfectly integrated. One of the star bottles from the previous wine flight. Savigny Les Beaune is a charming village in Cote de Beaune. The red wines produced here are silky with delicate tannins, more fruit forward than Pommard or Volnay. Many renowned wineries, such as Leroy, Prieure Roch, and Emmanuel Rouget, also craft their wines in this area. It’s a must try for enthusiasts like us who likes to explore wines with the Burgundy map.

With 15 years of aging, the Margaux 2009 reaches new heights. Bright, ripe blackberry and black plum, beautifully complemented by notes of violet, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, liquorice, and subtle hints of earth and leather. The wine is exquisitely balanced and concentrated, with a velvety texture that is simply remarkable. The 87% Cabernet Sauvignon provides the strength of great ageing potential, reminding drinkers of the power and fullness of the 2005 vintage and the softness of 1990.

Our delightful dinner started with a refreshing Bollinger Rose, setting the perfect tone for the evening. Vieux Chateau Certain from the outstanding 1990 vintage beautifully showcased its signature silkiness, delivering elegant notes of berries, mint, liquorice and spices. We had the Sine Qua Non the Pontiff Rose 2008 blind. Despite its vibrant rose hue giving us a clue, the wine’s strong, rich body and warm, berry-bomb flavours defied expectations, making it hard to believe it was a rose wine. This 2008 Grenache-based gem truly highlighted SQN’s artistic flair and playful character, leaving us captivated.

A lovely evening with Tortochot and d'Eugenie😋

d'Eugenie, with its Clos Vougeot vineyard rooted back to Rene Engel, carries a lot of weight in the wine world. After 3 hours of bottle breathing, it didn’t disappoint, delivering extraordinary quality and a velvety smooth texture, all while being priced at just about a tenth of what Rene Engel's wines cost!

Tortochot has crafted the Gevrey Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois that strikes a wonderful balance between strength and elegance, making it simply delightful for everyday enjoyment. Very nice that both bottles keep our bank account happy and our palate satisfied.

Christophe Perrot Minot Clos Vougeot 2004, crafted by Christophe during his first decade at the helm of his family Domaine. It offers a smooth and rounded palate, bursting with delightful floral and fruity notes that create an inviting and approachable style.

Domaine Perrot Minot, which was once understated until Christophe took the reins and elevated its quality to the level of prestigious wineries and now is renowned for its exceptional old vine. Currently, Perrot Minot is not producing Clos Vougeot, so if you want to experience more excellence of Perrot Minot, do explore our price list for other options.

Every Liger Belair experience is a revelation, and the 2020 La Colombiere village wine is no different. It opens with a bouquet of blueberries, red plums, and strawberries—sweet and luscious, with floral notes, spices, smokiness, and earthy undertones creating a rich tapestry. The vibrant acidity, silky tannins, and light, crisp body are beautifully harmonious, and I can only imagine how much better it will get with time.

La Colombiere is a signature village cru in Vosne Romanee, Liger Belair shares just 0.78 hectares in total. Remarkably, 30% of the vines are 92 years old, another 30% are 72, and the rest are 52. This treasure trove of old vines yields only 10 barrels (about 3,000 bottles) each year, making it truly memorable alongside many 1er Crus.
