Perfect for your Chinese New Year celebrations, we absolutely love this wonderfully luxurious Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG (2016) from Villa Merighi.

This full-bodied red wine is dry, warm and hearty, yet also incredibly elegant on the palate. The wine exhibits delicious flavours of sumptuous ripe red cherries, red plums, redcurrants and cranberries and has a lovely smooth and long finish.

All of the grapes are carefully handpicked at optimal ripeness and then dried naturally for 3 months - appassimento method. After a long and slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks (at very low temperatures to preserve the delicate aromas), maturation takes place in old French oak barrels for 24 months. Refinement then continues inside the bottle for a further 24 months.

This wine has outstanding structure, balance and complexity - with a high alcohol content of 16%. The wine is fantastic to drink right now, or if stored properly will continue to age until at least 2026 and beyond.

Given the unique flavour profile of an Amarone, this red wine will pair beautifully with most savoury dishes - it’s also great to drink without food at the end of your meal!

The high-profile and family-owned lies in the heart of the world-renowned Bolgheri DOC region in Italy. Their estate is located on Via Bolgherese, the road on which all of the most prestigious ‘Super Tuscan’ winemakers are based.

ecoVINO’s WOW is a phenomenal red wine from that is produced from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes.

This very smooth Bolgheri Rosso DOC is dry and medium-to-full bodied, with a high alcohol content of 14.5%. The wine opens with prominent flavours of black plums, blackcurrants and black cherries - with hints of red plum and cranberry in the background. Notes of cedar, cloves, charred wood and a hint of caramel are noticeable on the finish.

All the grapes are carefully handpicked and each grape varietal is separately macerated in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, each grape varietal continues to remain separated and unfiltered to retain elegance. Each wine is then aged in small oak barrels for 8 to 9 months, before the grape varietals are then blended together and reintroduced to oak barrels for 3 to 4 months. Refinement then continues inside the bottle for a further 5 months.

This is an intensely robust wine with high alcohol content, excellent structure and great balance. The wine is great to drink now but will further evolve over the longer-term (best to drink before 2028).

Wine of the Week

This is a very fresh-tasting and light bodied dry white wine, made using a blend of Garganega, Cortese, Trebbiano and Trebianello grapes. This results in a very easy-drinking and well-balanced wine that exudes lots of minerality.

The wine opens with evident flavours of green apples and has elegant notes of pink grapefruit on the finish.

Great as an aperitif alongside a few savoury snacks, or with low-fat and fresh-tasting dishes and sauces. This wine also pairs very nicely with risotto and delicately fragranced Southeast Asian dishes.

This really is a wonderful, lively and delightful sparkling rosé. It’s your perfect summer drink, which is best served at a very chilled temperature. It’s fabulous to drink as an aperitif or alongside a few savoury snacks with your family and friends especially on a gloriously sunny day.

Aroma: Delightful floral aromas – particularly rose petals, blossom, honeysuckle and jasmine - with notes of green apple and pear drops.

Taste: Off-dry (Brut), with a slight hint of sweetness, and medium acidity and low tannins. Light-to-medium bodied with medium alcohol and a lingering finish. This sparkling rosé wine opens with pink lady apple, raspberry and violet flavours. The wine has a lovely elegance and sparkle, with hints of redcurrant and rose petals on the finish. It’s the type of sparkling wine that invites you to pour another glass straight away.

Winery: The charming sustainable vineyards of Le Tende: Organic Wines, overlooking the picturesque Lake Garda, have been certified organic by ICEA in Italy since 2012.

is located in the rolling Morainic hills between Colà di Lazise and Cavaion Veronese, close to the eastern shores of Lake Garda in the Veneto region of Italy.

The vineyards lie in the heart of the Bardolino DOC and Custoza DOC (on the northern border) winemaking regions.

ecoVINO says: This wonderful red wine is a powerful and medium-to-full bodied Super Tuscan from the Maremma DOC wine-making region in Tuscany. The wine is produced from a blend of Sangiovese (65%) and Syrah (35%) grapes and although high in alcohol has great balance and structure. The wine is very drinkable now, but will further improve and evolve over the next few years (best to drink before 2027).

Aroma: Pronounced bold aromas of luscious ripe red fruits - particularly cherry, plum and raspberry – and black liquorice, with herbaceous notes (particularly tomato leaf) and subtle hints of white pepper.

Taste: Dry with medium-to-high acidity, high alcohol and medium-to-high tannins. Medium-to-full bodied with a lovely smooth and long finish. Opens with prominent flavours of fresh tangy red fruits – particularly cherry, plum, cranberry and raspberry – and closes with some slightly bitter herbaceous and vegetal notes.

Winery: Muralia has been producing organic wines since 2015. In 2015, they received their organic agricultural certification and in 2018 received their organic winemaking certification from Bioagricert in Italy. All wine vintages produced after 2018 can be considered organic. Due to stringent EU regulations, only 2021 vintages onwards are 'officially' certified as organic.

Muralia's vineyards are located in an idyllic and remote part of the world-renowned Maremma DOC winemaking region in Tuscany.

All wines from Muralia are plant-based and vegan-friendly. Muralia never use any animal-derived products or isinglass (collagen protein from fish bladders), gelatine, casein (milk protein), skimmed milk or albumin (egg white protein) as fining agents during wine production.

Alongside plant-based green manure, Muralia occasionally use animal manure from local organic farms to help fertilise their vines.
