🍷 Following on from visit to HQ, we were delighted to go and visit some of our London Trade customers too with winemaker Emily (of Emily’s Paddock fame!).

It’s a such pleasure to hear the stories first hand from our winemakers and to share that with the people who serve these wines in top restaurants. We wish Australia was that bit closer that we could have Emily and Nick visit more frequently.

Nothing more fun and exciting than winemakers visiting Yapp HQ 🍇

How wonderful was it to see Emily & Nick McNally with their children Ella and Nate from Jasper Hill this week.

All the way from Heathcote Australia 🇦🇺 they “popped” in for a staff tasting yesterday followed by a customer tasting today.

We’ve been working with the Family estate for more than 4 decades.

In 1975, former food scientist Ron Laughton and his wife Elva created their Jasper Hill estate in Heathcote, Victoria (70 miles north of Melbourne), drawn by the region’s distinctive geology, namely an iron-rich seam of Cambrian clay and volcanic basalt on which the vineyards are strategically located.

Today the Laughton’s world-renowned, bio-dynamically farmed, 20-hectare estate is widely regarded as being some of the finest terroir in Australia.

Jasper Hill produces six wines from three individual vineyards.

While the single estate ‘Emily’s Paddock’ Shiraz - Cabernet Franc and ‘Georgia’s Paddock’ Shiraz (first vintage 1982) are the best known wines, Jasper Hill also makes a ‘Georgia’s Paddock’ Semillon, ‘Georgia’s Paddock’ Riesling (first vintage 1984) and ‘Georgia’s Paddock’ Nebbiolo.

“I really like this one – it tastes like proper, honest wine, not something tweaked into blandness. Made by the Vignerons Ardéchois co-op west of the Rhône, it’s mostly grenache with a third merlot. There’s good colour, but it’s dry, fresh and full of character, with the gentle scent of wild strawberries in a shady garden. I’d happily make it my house rosé.”

We love our Loire Rosé’s, the new 2024 vintage Chinon Domaine is here!

The 2024 Chinon Rosé is tart and structured but also soft and supple. It vibrates over a core of ripe cherry/peach fruit and stony minerality. There’s very good body and attractive curves here. The finish is long and savory, echoing with Franc herbaceousness. Well done and quite distinctive.

Many thanks to all who attended the Lunch yesterday .restaurant . Now that Le Gavroche is sadly no more, we are building a new chapter in the long-standing Yapp and Roux connection, which has been going since 1987!

Emily Roux and Diego Ferrari’s restaurant won their first Michelin star this year and is unquestionably a ‘must visit’ in London, combining modern and classic techniques and ingredients to great effect.

Impeccable service by the whole team and superb food from start to finish, many thanks for hosting us!
