Pop-in for today’s tasting to try these two beauties.

A classic Chenin Blanc - Ripe peach and tropical fruit on the nose with fresh citrus notes. Honeyed and textured on the palate with crisp acidity and hints of honeydew melon and lychee leading to a bright, zesty finish with fresh lemony acidity.

And a Shiraz - Inviting aromas of summer pudding, ripe black cherry, vanilla and even a touch of Framboise. On the palate, more rich black fruits, smoky notes and a suggestion of dark chocolate and star anise. Youthful acidity and ripe balanced tannins give a fresh finish with depth and complexity.

See you at the usual time; 4pm to 7:30pm

Why not pop into the store this Bank Holiday weekend and pick-up one, or perhaps both of these new Portuguese wines that have just arrived to the store. Ideal for the Easter weekend table I’m sure you’ll find.

Rola White £17.99

The grapes for The Rola de Branco, Douro 2019 wine are grown in two separate plots. Winemaker Ana Rolo found vineyards that express the freshness of the Douro and used the grapes from them to create a modern Douro classic.

On the palate this wine reveals a very fresh and crisp grip, tickling the taste buds with notes of citrus and tropical fruits, to giving way to an extremely smooth yet vibrant almondy complexity with a long finish.

Rola Red £18.99

The Rola de Tinto, Douro is a 50-year-old red field blend containing varieties like Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão. Thirty percent spent six months in new French oak barriques resulting in a powerfully structured wine, framed by a fuzziness and acid drive with abundant red fruit and liquorice.

Give it a decant for it to show at its best.

We hope to see you over the Bank Holiday weekend.

🥃🍹NEW RUM ALERT🍹🥃

MEZAN JAMAICA XO RUM 70CL

This is a blend of casks from two distilleries in Jamaica: Monymusk and Hampden. The latter distillery has Scottish roots, and is one of the oldest sugar plantations in the country. It has always been known as a rum distillery of high calibre, making spirit for blending. This XO rum was bottled by Mezan, and it is a blend of rums aged between 4 and 23 years of age, re-casked and allowed to marry for many years before bottling.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Bananas and vanilla. A little burnt sugar with a touch of toffee brittle and peanut butter.

Palate: Plantains and walnut loaf. A touch of brandy butter, crème caramel and mixed spice.

Finish: Spicy finish with candied peels.

Pop-in and ask for a taste.

🍺🍻 NEW BEER ALERT 🍻🍺

PAULANER MUNICH HELLES 50CL

No one makes lagers like the Germans, and Munich’s historic Paulaner Brewery makes some of the best. This crisp helles starts malty sweet but dries out as the hoppy, biscuit finish takes over. It’s made with all Bavarian ingredients, including hallertau, a nobel German hop used in lagers all over the world.

Pop-in and pick-up a can while stocks last.

Being that the weather has been so fair today and the forecast looks great for the rest of the week, we thought we’d do a post of our range of Rosé.

Why not pop-in and pick-up something out of our fridge on the way back from work. It’s definitely the season for having a glass of something pink at the end of a long day in the garden while we’ve got such lovely weather.

Just a reminder to all that your four legged friends are always welcome in Eynsham Cellars.

We have doggie treats instore and if you’re lucky you may even get to meet our shop doggie ‘Max.

Feel free to pop-in and if you like we can take a picture and add them to our hall of Four-Legged-Fame that we make a poster of at the end of the Year.

Meet Bramble - she’s a tiny and beautiful Border Terrier that has recently moved into the village. Bramble is unique in the sense that she hasn’t been accustomed to so many other dogs in one place as there are in Eynsham, so, occasionally she may seem wee-bit defensive initially (her bark is the biggest things about her), but; if you give her the time she needs to sniff her new acquaintances she becomes playful, relaxed and is a treat to see bonding with other dogs.

Brambles hasn’t had the easiest start in life, so, she’s a little wary about meeting new dogs, but, after her initial barks she’s very excited to meet new friends.

Bring your doggies in and ask us to take a picture of them and so we me add them to our Christmas Collection of Doggies that’s we’ll post in our store window for end the year.

Join us today for our regular Friday afternoon tasting.

Today we’ll be opening two wines from Domaine Lafage from the South of France,

The Côté Est is a singular, honeyed, lush, exotic white wine with beeswax and orange marmalade notes. Medium-bodied and dry with minerality, this fruit cocktail-styled wine should be enjoyed fresh while it is young.

&

Côté Sud. The Catalanes Côté Sud offers pure, lively notes of blackberries, currants, garrigue, pepper and assorted spices to go with a medium to full-bodied, layered palate feel.

We look forward to seeing you in-store from 4pm to 7:30pm.

The Oli & Iain story

Eynsham Cellars is Eynsham’s Independent Wine, Beer & Spirit Merchant which was set up in 2010 after Oli and Iain were made redundant from a nationwide wine shop chain. They both refused to accept what many people told them that ‘wine shops are a thing of the past’ and decided to set one up for themselves. They are now the safe-keepers of about 400 different wines, 100 bottled ales & craft beers (mainly local brews), not to mention a wonderful selection of continental lagers and a dazzling & expanding spirit selection. We import over 100 wines deirectly, and supply these to the public as well as the on-trade

We take pride in offering fantastic service, knowing our products, and training all our staff up to give expert advice on those occasions when we aren't here.
