Join us today from 4pm to 7:30pm for our in-store wine tasting.

Today we’ll be opening; Château Saint-Pierre Cuvee Marie. A classic Provence rose in a traditional Provence bottle, salmon pink colour, light raspberry and peach flavours and dry. A what you would want from a Provence rose. The Chateaux’s vineyards stretch from the Argens River up to the foot of the beautiful Maures mountain range, and wine is a blend of Grenache and Cinsault. Delicious aromas of crushed red berries and soft peach spring from the glass. The palate has a soft creamy texture and good length.

40% Grenache, 60% Cinsault blend resulting in a beautifully crafted rosé with all the characteristics one expects from Provence. A beautiful salmon pink colour, with clean crisp acidity and generous red and even exotic fruit notes. Perfect summer drinking.

Also; Cantine Pirovano Beatrice Appassimento Rosso di Salento IGT. Big, bold, and velvety smooth - this Italian red wine from Salento hits all the right notes. Made in the traditional appassimento style, the Beatrice Rosso Salento is rich and warming, packed with flavours of dried cherries, plums, sweet spice, to***co leaf and a touch of dark chocolate.

There’s a touch of sweetness, but it’s beautifully balanced by freshness and fine tannins. This is a proper full-bodied red for when you want something with depth and character. Great BBQ wine here, ideal for the hot summer weather drinking outside with friends.

See you at the usual time.

We know, it’s a tough job, but we’ll take the sacrifice to do it, so you don’t have to…

Last month Dan and Oli went on a whistle stop buying trip with some other friendly merchants to Bordeaux. We visited some fabulous wineries and tasted wines to see what would work well in the shop, as well as visiting some wineries we already work with.

On the Monday we were hosted by Château Olivier (Graves), Château Larrivet Haut Brion (Pessac-Leognan) and Château Angélus, (St Emillion)

On Tuesday we went to a tasting at Château Angludet (Margaux) and Château Cantemerle, (Haut Médoc)

On Wednesday, we visited and did tastings at Château Tourelles (Cadillac) Château Saransot-Dupré (Listrac) and met up with the winemakers of Château Grandis and Château Haut-Barrail

A big thanks to all these lovely producers, as well as to Maison Sichel for their assistance and hospitality!

Keep an eye out in the next couple of months for more Bordeaux landing in the shop!

Join us tomorrow at the usual time to sample these two wines that we feel encapsulates the feeling of summer.

Hundred Hills Preamble No2: The 2021 vintage was long and cool, rewarding those who coaxed their grapes through to a late October harvest, with wines of freshness, purity and delicacy. Golden straw coloured in the glass with a beautiful clarity, this vintage’s Preamble is a tightly knit band of yellow apple and pear, centred around a core of crisp acidity. Those who favour elegance and finesse in their wines will enjoy the fine profile here.

Alongside we will also be opening the Ecker-Eckhof Rosa Von Eckhof 2023: A delightful rosé with a light pink hue, it is fresh and lively with aromas of red berries and cherries which follow through on the palate.

We look forward to seeing between 4pm to 7:30pm to celebrate the start of the weekend with these two wines to sample in-store.

Join us from between 4pm to 7:30pm today to sample these two fun wines.

This Viognier from the Côtes de Thau region offers an overload of ripe peach, pear, white flower and evem a little fresh apricot. It’s a fairly easy going wine but balances brightness, ripe fruit and nice palate weight well.

Perfect for pairing with sunday roasts, sweet root vegetable, poultry and seafood.

&

This Cabernet Sauvignon from the Côtes de Thau region offers a fresh and approachable take on this classic grape variety, known for its bold flavours and structure.

Medium-bodied with smooth tannins and balanced acidity. The palate reveals ripe black fruit flavours like blackcurrant and blackberry, with a touch of cherry. Herbal notes of green pepper and thyme add complexity, alongside a slight earthy, mineral undertone. A hint of vanilla and spice comes through from the oak ageing.

Perfect quaffing outside in the garden amongst friends over a barbecue.

Join us today for our in-store Wine Tasting today, from 4pm to 7:30pm.

Todays we’ll be opening:

Produttori Di Manduria, Alice, IGT, Puglia, Italy - Straw yellow in colour, the nose shows aromatic white flowers mixed with citrus notes as well as pear and pineapple. Dry on the palate this is fresh and mineral like. This wine will pair nicely with a Caprese salad, baked seabass with lemon potatoes, seabream carpaccio, golden deep-fried anchovies. Currently £16.49 or £14.84 as part of any mixed 6 wines.

Also; we have a ten year old Bordeaux from Châteauu Gemeillan Medoc, Cru Bourgeois 2015. This is a WIGIC (When its Gone, its Gone) Wine that we have on offer at a RRP of £24.99, but, on offer for £17.99 or £16.19 as part of any mixed 6 wines.

This is a perfectly mature Bordeaux, ready to drink, from a top vintage. This really is a bargain. Dry, classic Medoc here. Full of red cherry and violets, with lovely to***co, cedar and cocoa flavours all playing a supporting role. Good acidity lends freshness to the palate, and a very respectable 13% alcohol means this is no heady fruit bomb. This is pure, restrained, sexy Claret. And as a Brit, I would indeed be enjoying this alongside my roast beef on a Sunday.

See you at the usual time of 4pm to 7:30pm at Eynsham Cellars.

The Oli & Iain story

Eynsham Cellars is Eynsham’s Independent Wine, Beer & Spirit Merchant which was set up in 2010 after Oli and Iain were made redundant from a nationwide wine shop chain. They both refused to accept what many people told them that ‘wine shops are a thing of the past’ and decided to set one up for themselves. They are now the safe-keepers of about 400 different wines, 100 bottled ales & craft beers (mainly local brews), not to mention a wonderful selection of continental lagers and a dazzling & expanding spirit selection. We import over 100 wines deirectly, and supply these to the public as well as the on-trade

We take pride in offering fantastic service, knowing our products, and training all our staff up to give expert advice on those occasions when we aren't here.
