Introducing - Thibaud Capellaro | Côte-Rôtie | France 🇫🇷

Introducing the newest gem in our portfolio: Thibaud Capellaro, a visionary winemaker redefining the vineyards of Côte-Rôtie in Norther Rhône since 2018.

Born and bred in this storied region with no family roots in viticulture. Thibaud started his journey off with business studies then followed his passion for wine. He courageously acquired 2 hectares of often-overlooked parcels—many unplanted and not south-facing, deemed less desirable by the older generation. Yet, with rising temperatures, Thibaud’s bold gamble is paying off.

Embarking on this thrilling journey, Thibaud embraces the challenge of cultivating one of France’s steepest vineyards using organic farming and natural winemaking techniques. His approach, still quite avant-garde for the region, is paving the way for a new era of winemaking excellence.

To supplement the tiny production from his own land, Thibaud sources grapes from the iconic Gerald Oustric of Le Mazel in Ardèche, France.

We have received three exquisite cuvées in very limited quantities:

Terra: A stunning blend of 95% Syrah lifted by 5% Viognier and Marsanne. Imagine black currant and cherries paired with pepper, and pencil shavings. Refined and elegant tannins matched with juicy fruit and a precise finish.

La Canuse: A truly unique red wine crafted from 85% Viognier macerated with 15% Syrah from Côte-Rôtie for 15 days, aged in amphoras. Think blood orange paired with raspberries and strawberries spiced with elderflower, mango, and lychee. Complex, round, with a long vibrant finish.

Pierre Taillèe: Grapes for this cuvée come from Thibaud’s parcels, one in the St-Joseph appellation and the other across the Rhône River. A massal selection of Syrah, 50% whole cluster, aged in demi-muids for 11 months. Packed with bright damson, black currant, and pepper, it’s dense, intense, multilayered, and mineral.

Explore Thibaud’s inspiring journey and taste his innovative wines on Monday the 24th of June at Ducksoup Soho.

Introducing - Etienne Seignovert | Ardèche | France 🇫🇷

Meet Etienne Seignovert, the brilliant young winemaker from the enchanting Saint-Barthélemy-Le-Plain near the Doux valley. Leaving behind his family’s restaurant legacy, Etienne dived into the world of wine, sharpening his skills at the esteemed Domaine Gouffier in Burgundy. Fast forward to 2020, and he’s back on his family’s farm, crafting his debut vintage and making waves in the underground wine community!

Etienne’s vision is a beautiful blend of polyculture and agroforestry, utilizing the diverse ecosystem of his tree- and hedge-bordered land. His own plots of Syrah, Merlot, Marsanne, Rousanne, and Gamay flourish on the granite terraces of Saint-Barthélemy-le-Plain and Tournon-sur-Rhône, perched at 300-500 meters above sea level. In addition to these small plots, he sources most of his grapes from friends and esteemed vintners in St. Joseph, Ardèche, and Savoie, all adhering to organic farming principles.

We’re excited to announce a limited release of Etienne’s unique Vin de France and Saint-Joseph wines from the 2021 and 2022 vintage. Each bottle is a testament to his dedication, showcasing pure fruit expression, gentle extraction, and vibrant, electric flavors bursting with personality.

Join us on the 24th at Ducksoup for our trade tasting, where we’ll crack these beautiful bottles open.

Hugo Vercasson | Saint-Joseph, Rhône | France 🇫🇷

We’re buzzing to welcome the incredibly talented Hugo Vercasson to our portfolio! ✨

Born in 1999, Hugo might be young, but he’s already turning heads in the wine world with his amazing knack for crafting Rhône varieties.

Hugo’s story started at Domaine Iserand with Jeff Malsert. In 2021, he set out on his own project, snapping up some steep, high-altitude plots in Arras-sur-Rhône and Eclassan, down in the southern part of the Saint-Joseph appellation.

By 2022, Hugo harvested his first vintage, rolling out three red wines and one white, totalling about 4,500 bottles. In his cellar, he works magic with amphoras and stainless steel, using whole bunches fermentation for delicate extraction to get those fine tannins and a smooth texture. His wines are all about authenticity, with a vibrant sense of place and youthful energy.

From his debut release, we managed to snag a few cases of his Les Travers. This 100% Syrah is whole-bunch fermented for two weeks, then aged in amphoras. Think blackberries and blueberries, mixed with earthy vibes of wet stones, peppery spices, and a hint of smokiness.

Join us on the 24th at Ducksoup for our trade tasting, where we’ll crack open a bottle of this gem for the first – and probably the last – time. You don’t want to miss this!

Andi Mann | Rheinhessen | Germany 🇩🇪 .mann.e
at

This weekend Andi will be pouring his wines at The Real Wine Fair. Let’s dive into the work of our third winemaker attending.

The name Mann has been around in Rheinhessen for a long time: Andi’s family have lived and worked in Eckelsheim since 1699.

Only an hour’s drive west from Frankfurt to find ourselves at this breathtaking scenery. The slopes of the undulating terrain were formed by the ancient sea, which gives the soil its minerality and versatility. The real treasure, however, is the bedrock underneath, formed by the volcanic porphyry, a silicate-rich granite making this a unique terroir.

When Andi took over the estate he put the main focus on sustainability and restoration of soil life. He believes that creating unique, flawless wines with personality starts with holistic farming. One of the solutions here lies in the presence of his animals. The sheep maintain the green cover and help to fight soil erosion whilst completing the cycle of Flora and Fauna.

During harvest, Andi likes to keep a good balance between skin contact and direct pressed vinification, resulting in wines with pronounced fruit profiles and complex textures. The fermentation happens spontaneously without temperature control in large traditional German oak barrels.

Style-defining elements of the Mann wines are minerality and cool freshness. Andi forever strives for balance and drinkability and succeeds every single time.

This is a unique opportunity to taste and gain first-hand knowledge of his astonishing wines. Make sure not to miss it.

Koppitsch | Burgenland | Austria 🇦🇹

As the Real Wine Fair is fast approaching we take a closer look at our second winemaker visiting - Maria from the Koppitsch family.

Maria and Alex live and work in the heart of Burgenland, North of the lake Neusiedl in Austria. The home of Zweigelt and Grüner Veltliner.

In 2011 they took over 6.3 hectares of land from Alex’s father to farm with a focus on Rudolf Steiner’s biodynamic principles and make every effort to provide the vineyards with what they need in the sight of a holistic approach

The soil composition in the Neusiedle area is a mixture of clay, limestone, gravel and schist that have been transported by rivers in the last 2 Million years before the lake formed its current shape.

In the cellar the message is equally clear: “We make natural wine. Hence, we reject all forms of artificial additives”. Fermentation always starts spontaneously, without temperature control. “We craft natural wine with joy, tickle, complexity, honesty and soul!”

We will be touring the UK with Maria next week; catch us at:

Uros Klabjan | Istria | Slovenia 🇸🇮

A little throwback to our immersive visit last October to the iconic Slovenian winemaker Uros Kalbjan.

The vineyards are located near a small town called Osp, only 3 km from the Gulf of Trieste in Italy, nestled in a funnel-shaped valley with one of the breeziest microclimates.

The soil is a mixture of limestone, marl and silty Terra Rossa. A unique composition that helps Uroš to create powerful and concentrated wines with elegance and nuanced finesse.

The Klabjan family has been cultivating this land since 1795 making Uros the 5th generation. Tradition and organic viticulture have always been core values. His grandfather used to work the land with horses, and his son has recently started beekeeping - a continuous striving for biodiversity.

Uros believes that indigenous varieties can develop best here. Therefore he focuses mainly on Refošk and Malvazijia with a bit of Yellow Muscat. His oldest vineyards are planted with 145-year-old ungrafted pre-phylloxera vines.

When it comes to vinification Uroš is a minimalist. Only wild yeast, a press, stainless steel or concrete, old oak barrels and his favourite ingredient: time!

Uros will be presenting his entire portfolio at the Real Wine Fair later this month. A unique opportunity to taste and gain first-hand knowledge of his astonishing wines.

Les Errances | Rablay-sur-Layon, Loire | France 🇫🇷

Les Errances, is the small winery of Warren and Maïté in Rablay-sur-Layon, Loire.

After a few years of backpacking around the world and working in corporate environment, they realised the need for a slower and more natural lifestyle. Months of searching bears its fruit and they find the right place to settle in 2018.

They currently farm 6 hectares with a focus on local varieties such as Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, and Grolleau. They farm their land organically with attention to small details. They strive to help the diversity of plants and trees both in the vineyards and in the areas surrounding them.

Mäitê and Warren believe in a minimal intervention in the cellar, their wines are born by long natural fermentation useing a good combination of vessels. For the red wines concrete and fibreglass tanks and small oak barrels for the whites. The cellar is very thoughtfully constructed to make use of gravity allowing the juice to unfold naturally.

Their wines are a living expression of the grape varieties and the terroir, characterised by their pure fruit profiles, and clean and vibrant finish.

We are super excited to welcome Maïté and Warrens work to the portfolio and share them with you all.

Subotica wine region | Serbia 🇷🇸

Half of Oszkár's vineyards are in the northern part of Serbia, 12 km southeast of Subotica and just a little stroll away from the Hungarian border. Seven hectares of land in three different locations - in Hajdukovo (1.3 ha), in Backi Vinogradi (1.9 ha), and on the Nosa hill (3.8 ha).

The topsoil is half a meter deep sand, lying on compacted clay and limestone bedrock. It is this combination that allowed the Vitis vinifera rootstocks to survive the phylloxera in the 18 hundreds.

This region gifts us with the wines of Kövidinka - 98 years plantation - Fodor Welschriesling - 54 years plantation - and the oldest known Kadarka on the planet, which was planted back in 1880, and is almost 144 years old.

Crazy Lud White 2022 | Maurer | Serbia 🇷🇸

Is the flagship field blend that serves as an entry into Oszkár’s world. A light and charming white wine that jumps out of the glass with fresh quince and lime peel paired with delicate notes of jasmine and green tea.

The grapes - Welschriesling, Ezerjó, Szerémi Zöld, Bakator and Piros Magyarka - are grown in the Northern part of Serbia on sand and clay soils.

👉 2nd picture

Clay! instead of wax or foil

Oszkár’s obsession with ancient techniques combined with his rebellious attitude drove him to another invention - instead of plastic caps, or artificial waxes, he used clay to seal the top of the bottle. Probably the closest we ever get to the terroir from the comfort of our home.
The opening is as easy as a firm wax - drive the cross crew trough, pull the cork halfway, gently blow/wipe the clay that comes off, pull the cork and enjoy the wine 👌

Maurer | Subotica & Fruska Gora | Serbia 🇷🇸

Oszkàr cultivates 16 ha of land, split between two wine regions, the Subotica in the north and the Srem or Fruška Gora in the central part of Serbia.

As a 4th generation winemaker, Oszkàr respects tradition and is always in the research for ancient winemaking techniques. He loves unique autochthonous grape varieties like Bakator, Kövidinka and Mèzes Fehèr to mention a few. He also nurtures the oldest Kadaka plantation known to mankind, where the vines date back to 1880.

Oszkàr does everything in the vineyards to protect the grapes organically and as little as necessary in the cellar to let these unique varieties and terroirs shine in the glass.

We are excited to share his recent arrivals with you all.

Kékfrankos 2021 | Palya | Hungary 🇭🇺

Aka Blaufrankisch a full-bodied red, packed with blackcurrant and damson paired with Christmas spices a hint of pencil shaving, black pepper and forest floor. Super concentrated and rich on the palate with round tannins, great depth and a very long vibrant finish.

The grapes were hand de-stemmed and fermented in open vat fermenter for 10 days with very gentle punch down. The juice ages in Hungarian oak barrel and fibreglass for 10 months before it is bottled without fining, filtration or the addition of sulphites.

2021 in Mátra was a very warm and dry year resulting in wines with more colour depth and crunchy fruit as well as exceptional quality.

Palya | Mátra | Hungary 🇭🇺

Mátra is an iconic volcanic wine region just an hour's drive from Budapest towards Tokaj in the Northeast part of the Country. Home to Julcsi and Balázs and their biodynamic vineyards of 1 hectare in the village of Szücsi.

An extremely humble, super passionate winemaker couple with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Julcsi brings in the calmness - having grown up in a family of winemakers and Balázs as an engineer, the eye for detail and the desire for innovation. Like yin and yang, they are balancing each other and quickly becoming the new faces of the region.

After a few trials, they released 2020 as their first vintage. In the cellar everything is done by hand, let it be de-stemming, pressing, racking or bottling. They don’t use fining, filtration or sulphites either. The results are not only, among the cleanest and purest of natural wines I’ve ever tasted, but they also bring a deep sense of place with.

I am beyond excited to see what the future holds for them and it is a great pleasure to share it with you.

Weiss | Andi Mann | Germany

Andi’s flagship white blend is a great introduction to experience how complexity his estate is. A wine that is super approachable, fun and at the same time carrying great depth and complexity.

A blend of 30% Scheurebe, 30% Müller-Thurgau, 30% Huxelrebe and 10% Sylvaner. Most of the varieties go through a short period of skin contact before being pressed into large oak barrels. The wines age on their less until the next summer when they get blended and bottled.

Packed with stone fruit, mango and lychee, exciting, electric with a long finish.

Andi Mann | Rheinhessen | Germany 🇩🇪 .mann.e

We are beyond excited to finally share the entire Andi Mann portfolio with you.

Andi works biodynamically on 10 hectares in the northernmost part of the region. It is so close to Nahe that the landscape changes slightly - much higher hills with steep slopes and iron-rich schist soil, unlike the rest of Rheinhessen. All these factors play a major role in Andi's characteristic fruit-driven round expressive wines.
We fell in love with Andi's work when we first tasted a few bottles with Jason from .wines (good friends, these two) a few years ago.
As his wines are sold out every year we had to wait quite a bit until we managed to secure an allocation for the UK.

Koppitsch | Burgenland | Austria 🇦🇹

Maria, the always bubbly and Alex, the level-headed are like Yin and Yang. One of the most wholehearted people I've ever met. It is such an honour to have their incredible wines in the portfolio.💛🧡❤️

They farm 6 hectares biodynamically north of Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland, Austria.
