All set up for what will be my FINAL DAY at Castle Street Market. Due to 65mph winds being forecast, the Saturday and Sunday market days have been cancelled. Rogue Trading's last market of the year will be the Stockbridge market on Sunday 22nd, where father Chris-mas of the Rookery will be dispensing goodies.

Its bloomin' windy! Because of this, today's opening of Castle Street Market is delayed until the afternoon, when the wind should have died down a bit. The exact time is unknown, but I will provide updates in the comments as I receive them. The next one is expected at 10.

Final call for online orders that need to be delivered before Christmas! Orders received before midnight tonight (17th) for despatch tomorrow.
If you miss this, your last chance to grab some mead this year will be to catch myself at the Castle Street Market from 10AM-7PM every day until the 22nd. Alternatively, Chris (of Rookery fame) will be at Stockbridge from 10AM-4PM on the 22nd.

Rest day! It looks like tomorrow isn't going to be a market day after all. Due to high winds, the setup of the Castle Street Market has been delayed until Tuesday the 17th. The market should still run every day from then until Sunday the 22nd. Chris from The Rookery will be covering Stockbridge on Sunday.

The 17th is also the deadline for orders that need to be delivered before Christmas. We cannot guarantee that orders received after that date will arrive in time.

Sometimes, it is best to keep it simple. Wild fermented Ukrainian wildflower honey, matured in the vat for 5 years. December's Mead of the Month is Skuld from the Lancashire Mead Company. Available at the markets and online. Order by the 17th for delivery to UK addresses before Christmas.

Just a heads up that Saturday's market is CANCELLED due to the predicted weather. Chris from The Rookery - Craft Mead was due to stand in for me while I attend the Traquair House Christmas opening (Sat-Sun, tickets available here: https://www.traquair.co.uk/event/traquair-christmas-opening/).

I will be back on Sunday the 1st of December at the Stockbridge market

We've made the tough decision to cancel this Saturday's market. The wind and rain mean it won't be safe. It's not something we do very often and we hate doing it but better safe than sorry.

Back again Saturday 30 November from 10 til 5.

There are a few new meads on the stall today. A new batch of Midwinter Mead (Frankincense, Ginger, Whole Oranges) and the Wild Cherry Mead (Foraged Cherries) are available to try and will be on the website shortly.

November's Mead of the Month is Tyr's Mead, a wild fermentation of Ukrainian wildflower honey, Vitex honey and fresh orange juice. It will be joined by the ever-popular spiced Krampus' Mead, a mead with more flavour and spices than you can shake a cinnamon stick at.

October's Mead of the Month will be the Yggdrasil mead from the Afon Mêl Meadery in Wales. Made with forest honey, this light pure honey mead will be available to sample and buy at the stall throughout this month. It will be available on the website following the first tasting at the Stockbridge Market in Edinburgh this Sunday.

Remember the meads I put on last winter based on donated cappings? Well, I finally bottled them. West Lothian wildflower honey on the left and Tay Valley wildflower honey on the right. Quite a difference! 8 months on and still cloudy. Huge cat for scale.

The Mead of the Month for September will be the Rookery's Silver Birch Mead. Returning after years of absence, we'll be sampling the first bottle at the Stockbridge market on Sunday the 1st, after which it will be available on the website.

The Mead of the Month for August is Heimdall's Mead from with chilli and lime. Sample it at the stall at the Stockbridge Market (18th) and at Edinburgh Grassmarkets (10th and 24th) or get it on the website.

Say hello to the latest Mead of the Month! The Rookery's Wild Cherry Mead is fermented with cherries foraged in Perthshire. The flavour is not one of heavy sweetness, but instead a full tartness followed by dry fruity and marzipan notes. It will be on the website once I have finished the market (and the quality control process).
