Rogue Trading is a small business trading in a wide variety of meads, fruit wines and peculiar spirits, selling wares at medieval re-enactment events, fairs, markets, LARPs and any other place where people of an adventurous and rogueish mindset gather.

In tribute to all those celebrating Pride this month, June's Mead of the Month will be the Cosmo from ! Inspired by the Cosmopolitan, this mead is fermented with cranberry, lime, orange and rosehips. Personally I am really looking forward to presenting this one in Stockbridge this Sunday... the little bee is neat!

Two incredible mead samples from were gifted to me the weekend before last by the ever-generous

While the names are slightly terrifying, the tastes are terrific! The absinthe mead had a wonderful honey aroma and a smooth sweetness with undertones of herbs (wormwood?) and anise. "One Death" had enough heat to be quite entertaining, but not unpleasant, and you could still enjoy the full flavour, which was like sticky toffee pudding with hints of date and fruit.

Suffice to say, I am always happy to provide "Quality Control" services, and in this case, I award top marks!

May's Mead of the Month is Summerisle from Apothecary Mead. Lemon, Bay and Cardamom bring freshness and lightness to this meadow honey mead, perfect for the start of summer. Best enjoyed in the sun, although be careful you don't burn.

Good news and bad news today. Bad news: The Sloe Mead taster bottle has been emptied. Good news: The Elderflower Mead taster bottle has been opened... oh, and I SHIP TO THE STATES NOW!!

No fool, he! April's Mead of the Month is Black Phillip from Apothecary Mead. Caremellised honey is fermented with Moroccan figs, bourbon vanilla beans and charred oak chips. Lighter than you might expect. It will appear on the website after today's market is over.

The very belated Mead of the Month for March is The Morrigan from Apothecary Mead in Nottinghamshire. A spiced cherry mead, this one is definitely worth a try.

Slightly delayed by a logistical hiccup, I can happily introduce February's second Mead of the Month! Made with agave honey, Grimnir is the newest addition from the Afon Mêl Meadery's Mead Hall range.

The first Mead of the Month is Mountain Mead's Blackcurrant and Apple Mead! The second MotM will be unveiled next weekend. Observant mead fans may also notice the return of the Rookery's Raspberry Mead.

Hunkering down during the storm right now, but will be attending the market in the Grassmarket tomorrow (25th January). Just because January has been quiet doesn't mean I've not been busy. To make up for the lull, February will have TWO meads of the month, plus some additional news.
