Viognier is a white grape varietal mostly grown in France, which is said to be its country of origin alongside Croatia 🇫🇷 🇭🇷

Often found as a single varietal but also commonly used as a blending grape, Viognier is luxuriously rich and aromatic, elevating the flavours of wines both white and red 🥂🍷

Plantings have increased exponentially today, but they were almost wiped out in the 1960s due to challenging environmental factors 😨⚡

This classic English sparkling was made in partnership with Winemaker Nick Lane - previously of Dom Perignon. Hailing from The Heppington vineyard, which sits on part of the same geological strata as Champagne. Crafted from 46% Pinot Noir, 39% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier, the three varietals are hand picked separately. Its a wonderfully young wine with aromas of green apple, citrus blossom and light brioche. The palate is delicate with a silky mousse and precise acidity with flavours of orchard fruits and fresh basil.

Now we are finally seeing summer begin to appear, what better way to enjoy the sunshine in your garden than with a bit of Rose Champagne.

Top team choice this week is the Devaux 'Oeil de Perdrix' Brut Rosé Champagne 🥂

A winemaker whose approach to traditional fizz is decidedly unconventional, Michel Parisot is all about maximum flavour. Pinot Noir grapes are picked late in the harvest for as much aromatic flavour as possible. Michel then uses only the first press of the grapes, guaranteeing freshness. The wine is then aged for a minimum of four years – far longer than the required 30 months. The result is a rosé Champagne which punches well above its price point. Moreish flavours of redcurrant and raspberry. Although it's dry in style, the creamy texture is perfect with fruity puddings.

It's been a truly Majestic couple of days at this year's London Wine Fair, as our colleagues came away with an incredible haul of nine prestigious team and individual accolades.

At the Drinks Business Awards on Tuesday, Majestic took home FIVE prizes – more than any other business:

At the Wine Buyers Awards earlier in the day, Matthew Fowkes was awarded Supermarket & Multiple Wine Buyer of the Year, with judges recognising his ability to source unique, off-the-beaten track wines and grow sales in difficult categories. Our new colleagues at Vagabond also took home some silverware after being crowned Best On-Trade Buying Team.

And on day one of the Fair, Buyer Zara Cassidy and our PR and Events Coordinator Chloe Freeman were both named among Harpers 30 Under 30 list for 2024. Harpers praised Zara’s "commitment to sustainability, which shines through so much of what she does at Majestic", including in our Wine Club subscription cases. Chloe made the list as a result of her "strategic foresight and creative decision-making", helping to drive sales of new Majestic products including our Chosen By Majestic and Definition BY Majestic own-brand ranges.

Another glimpse of some well needed Rose weather!

Perfect timing to try our new-in-store, Defintion by Majestic Provence Rose.

This pale pink blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Rolle is summer in a bottle – and exactly what Provence rosé is all about. It’s made by Château Peyrassol, whose organic vineyards are nestled in 850 hectares of unspoiled nature and forest at the foothills of the Massif des Maures. The estate’s vineyard history stretches back to 1204 and the Knights Templar, so we knew they’d be a great fit when we were searching for a wine that truly reflects the region. Open and fruity with a zesty twist, it’s one that you can happily sip on its own. Though a glass also pairs great with seafood, grilled fish and salads.
