MAJOR UPDATE!

Our original plan was to race our ZX10R at this years Isle of Man TT but due to an over subscription within the class and a lack of track time last year (no fault to my own as I was limited by the class).
More experienced riders have been given places in the class. We have been given the opportunity to race in the two Supersport Races and the two Supertwin Races, we have dug deep and with a lot of help from family we have managed to get our hands on Kawasaki ZX6R for the Supersport Races.

Although it wasn’t our plan we are very excited for the new challenge 👍🏻. . .

Lovely to receive this email from a happy customer:

Hello Andy,
My stick arrived safely, thank you, no doubt due to the extremely effective packaging.
I just thought I’d drop you a mail to say how delighted I am with it, truly a craftsman piece.
Thanks for making the ferrule end as I asked, the spare ferrules that I’ve got will fit nicely when the original finally wears out.
And the nickel silver collar is understated but really sets the stick off.
I get around a fair few agricultural shows, some of which have stickmaking displays. And, I have a few that were gifts.
I can honestly say that the two sticks that you’ve made that I own are the best I have, the forming tool or jig that you use for the market stick style buffalo curl has the most aesthetically pleasing proportions, some are too thick where they lead to the shank, and some have either too tight a curl, or the head seems to slope forwards. Either way, your sticks are, to my mind, just right.
It’s a pleasure to take one out when walking, and they're much admired by my friends.

Thanks again,
Andrew

~ ANTLER FACTS ~

🦌Male deer grow antlers from boney bases called pedicles.

🦌The antlers grow from the age of 10 months.

🦌While growing they are encased in a soft covering, known as "velvet."

🦌Velvet provides the blood supply for the antlers to grow.

🦌At it's fastest rate antler can grow at 1cm a day!!

🦌Once the growing time is up, the blood supply from the velvet is shut off. This then leaves the velvet to rot away, aided by deer often rubbing their antlers on their surroundings. Leaving effectively dead bone.

🦌This rubbing on trees, shrubs, and soil, determines the colour of the antlers.

🦌The antlers' primary use is for fighting with other males.

🦌Not as a stabbing weapon, but to lock into its rivals set of antlers before aggressive pushing is carried out to see who is the stronger.

🦌Deer will cast their antlers each year.

🦌Usually growing a bigger set each year thereafter, until old age where, antler quality reduces and they "go back".

🦌Once cast, over time, the antlers left where they dropped are eaten by other woodland creatures. Including deer, once soft enough as a source of minerals.

After 26 years, one of the first sticks I ever made has been returned to me. Sadly the owner is now in a home and no longer has need for it. He supplied the rose shank and asked me to make him a stick out of it.
