🌿✨ For generations, my family in Punjab has been brewing the perfect cup of chai, refining it with love and care. Today, I’m honoring that tradition—but with a twist. I’ve taken those same cherished spices and infused them into a 47% abv rum, keeping the sugar content as low as 3%, because it’s all about balance. 🍃 Punjab, with its rich culture and sugarcane fields, is the perfect birthplace for this creation, blending our heritage with the craft of rum-making.

Inspired by my grandma’s recipe (Yes! That’s her in the photo!) and the rum-making tradition, I’ve added my personal touch - warming spices like cardamom, cassia, vanilla, and using Assam tea for a rich depth of flavour. The result? The world’s first Punjabi chai spiced rum, a tribute to family, tradition, and the spirit of Punjab. 💛

London, UK, 17th April – At the 7th London Spirits Competition, held in London on 20 & 21 March 2024, State of Rum won a Bronze medal, considered the ultimate seal of approval in the global spirits industry.

To achieve this distinction, State of Rum needed high scores in three categories: Quality, Value, and Packaging.

In contrast to other spirits competitions that often prioritise distilling ability and technical expertise over drinkability, the London Spirits Competition aims to recognise and celebrate the spirits that consumers actually want to buy, whether from a retail store or off a menu at a London restaurant.

What sets the London Spirits Competition apart is its judging process. It goes beyond blind tasting to determine medal winners. First, judges evaluate the spirits’ label, design, and packaging, assigning a portion of the score based on visual appeal, storytelling effectiveness, and how well the brand's overall presentation aligns with its price point and perceived value for money.
