Looking back on Our Snappy Store Dash for Maggie's Centres 🏃‍♂️💨

Back in December, Scotmid Merkland in Kirkintilloch hosted an exciting Snappy Shopper Store Dash, where local hero Iain Corcoran raced around the store, collecting over £110 worth of goods which were donated to Scotmid's Charity Partner, Maggie's 🧡

Our colleagues, members, and customers are supporting Maggie's Centres in 2024-2025 to provide vital practical and emotional support for people with cancer . 🧡 All proceeds will fund Maggie’s Cancer Support Specialists—expert healthcare professionals offering guidance, information, and a listening ear.

A huge shoutout to our Dumfries team for their amazing efforts this Christmas! 🎄✨

After raising £600 at Halloween, they went above and beyond, collecting an incredible £1,465 through their Hamper Draws to raise money for our Charity Partner, Maggie's! 🎁💖

From stunning hampers to the magical “Dumfries Grotto,” this small community store showed how big hearts create a huge impact.

Thank you to Michaela, her team, and the generous locals for spreading so much holiday cheer! 💫🎅

Meet Lynne & Graeme. Graeme was diagnosed with Lymphoma in Spring 2024. Lynne shares how Maggie’s was there for her.

“I walked into Maggie’s when Graeme was having his first PET scan.
I didn’t know how long the scan would take. I didn’t know where to go.
I had been to Maggie’s before for a work meeting. But that day, Maggie’s felt different. I had my laptop with me, thinking I’d work while I waited. I didn’t open my laptop. Maggie’s wasn’t just a space anymore—it was a place to breathe, to feel less alone. Maggie’s feels different when you need to be there.”

For #MenopauseAwarenessMonth Ali and Issy, two of the cancer support specialists at @maggiescentres share with us what a treatment induced ‘crash’ menopause is. If you’re starting treatment and are worried about potentially going into a crash menopause, or are experiencing symptoms during treatment and unsure whether it’s due to chemo or crash menopause, just come in to your nearest Maggie’s centre for expert support. WE DID IT! 🚤💙 We’re incredibly excited to announce that we have raised enough funds to #LaunchALifeboat for the @rnli! 🙏🎉 Aptly named “Spirit of Cooperation”, the new Atlantic 85 will be a valuable addition to the charity’s relief fleet. 🚤🌊 A huge WELL DONE and THANK YOU to our colleagues, customers, and members who have worked hard to support and raise funds over the past year. 👏💙 The "Spirit of Cooperation" lifeboat will have a life-saving impact on our coasts for many years to come, we couldn’t be prouder. 🥂

Our Story

Scotmid Co-operative is a Society made up of a number of businesses. It has around 190 food stores across Scotland and northern England, which are situated at the heart of local communities. Scotmid also owns Semichem, a chain of 80 discount health and beauty stores which are situated in most high street across Scotland as well as Northern Ireland and the north of England. Scotmid Funeral Directors operates 17 branches throughout the central belt of Scotland with a history that stretches back 90 years. Scotmid also has a Property Division which has an extensive portfolio of both commercial and residential properties. The Society is owned, managed and governed in Scotland and as a co-operative is democratically controlled by its members. All of this has been achieved while still strongly adhering to Scotmid's governing co-operative values and principles.
