The Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA) have today launched the SIBA Business Awards 2025, including a brand new ‘Diversity Champion of the Year’ award in partnership with social enterprise, CIC.

The new award celebrates independent breweries who have made equity, diversity and inclusivity a central part of their business – be that with a focus on gender, sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, socioeconomic background, disability, neurodiversity, or age.

The winner will need to demonstrate an authentic commitment to creating a diverse workplace alongside tangible positive outcomes for your business and team. With judges especially looking for schemes, policies, campaigns or other initiatives that can inspire the wider industry to follow suit.

Congratulations to all our award winners, there were some incredible beers across the board! Taking home Overall Gold in cask was .brewery with Dark Island Reserve, and the Overall Gold winner for keg was .brewing with Pinc! 🥇

Smoking Ban in pub gardens:

“SIBA shares the concerns of other sector trade associations and would ask for caution in the adoption of a smoking ban in pub gardens.

However well intended, the measures will be difficult to implement as smokers will move away from pub gardens and onto nearby streets.

The proposals will also have an adverse trading impact on the pubs bars and taprooms that are critical to the pub and brewing industry's post covid recovery.” Andy Slee, SIBA Chief Executive

The Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA), has this morning welcomed the new Government following a decisive win for Keir Starmer’s Labour Party.
