Dry January isn’t exactly on the cards in my line of work, but after the excesses of Christmas, something a bit lighter does the trick for me - and this Riesling has been spot on. At just 10.5%, it’s wonderfully easy to enjoy without feeling too heavy. It’s not bone-dry, but don’t let that put you off - it’s beautifully balanced with bright, zippy acidity and just the right touch of fullness. I’ve been taking a bottle home lately to go with a bit of Thai food, and honestly, it’s hard to beat this time of year.

Lightly oaked Chardonnays have always been my thing, and this one from Margaret River has been a bit of a go-to for me lately. It’s got everything I love - zesty citrus, juicy stone fruit, and just enough creaminess from the oak to keep it smooth without being too heavy. Aussie Chardonnays like this always nail that balance, and with someone like Larry Cherubino behind it, you know it’s going to be good. I’ve been cracking it open with seafood or creamy dishes, but honestly, it’s so good I’ve also been enjoying it just by itself.

This lovely Californian white from Cline Cellars is everything a single varietal Viognier should be - it has aromas of stone and tropical fruits to entice you in and then the palate is just full of those same fruits but with added hints of honey without being sweet. The wine has a wonderful, rounded mouthfeel and a long finish, paired with Chinese food it was perfect!
