Happy Small Business Saturday!

Thank you very much to everyone who has bought badges from Island Badges over the last year. Our very small business has now got 10 colourful badges in our collection, with lots more places on our list to be made into badges soon!

What do you do with your badge collection?

I am on the lookout for badges wherever I go and sew them onto my camp blankets. Recently I have been enjoying spotting more and more rucksacks out and about with badges sewn on as a record of places visited and mountains climbed.

Last week I was visiting a museum in Stockholm and was delighted to see this amazing cushion with badges sewn on. There were many fascinating exhibits, but this was definitely my favourite!

If you have taken on the challenge of the Hebridean Way over the summer then our latest badge might just be for you! The Hebridean Way spans 10 islands in the Outer Hebrides from Vatersay in the south to the Butt of Lewis in the north. The walking trail is 156 miles and the cycling route is 185 miles.
The second photo is my son Finlay when he cycled the Hebridean Way from north to south last summer. (I will definitely be sending him one of these badges for his collection!)

It’s National Lighthouse Day today and we have a lovely badge to mark the occasion! When I designed this badge I had the Eilean Glas lighthouse on the Isle of Scalpay in mind, which is one of my favourites. Happy Lighthouse Day!
