Last foodbank before Christmas, we've already had lots of donations dropped off so hopefully it will be a big one this week.

Hillsborough Greens will have our Santa hats on collecting for S6 Foodbank outside The Green Shop, 128 Wadsley Lane, this Saturday December 16th from 10 am to 12 noon. Some of you may be able to donate non perishable food and toiletries or cash to help others in this area who need to use the foodbank. You can also make cash donations on their website. The fantastic is this Sunday 10th December.

The shop is a great spot to watch it from as you can see them all the way down the hill.

We will be open again till 8 and it's estimated that it'll go passed at 5.45.

Get down early as we will have mulled wine, "special" hot chocolates and plenty of hot food.

It'll be a really festive atmosphere, 🚜 🎄

We will all so have a bucket for so bring down your change

Toby Mallinson & Hillsborough Green Party collecting for the S6 Foodbank outside the shop this morning.

We've already had plenty of food, toiletries and cash donations so let's make this one a big one.

Figures released by the Trussel Trust revealed demand had grown more on the S6Foodbank network than the majority of others in the UK - WATCH Harry Harrison's report below.

A little bit about them......
The Port Of Lancaster Smokehouse was established on the Quay in Lancaster over 50 years ago before moving to its current home in Glasson Dock. The smokehouse is still a family run business producing a vast array of smoked produce. We still use the traditional methods when it comes to smoking and curing, with nothing being added to products apart from salt, smoke and time. 

We have a wide range of products but they have many more to choose from so looking to grow our offer if they are popular, also look out for them in the Christmas order sheets.

What are people's thoughts on this proposal by one of our customers?
This is the corner of Wadsley Lane and Marlcliffe outside the shop, we see plenty of bad driving on a daily basis and with the amount of nursery and primary school children coming passed twice a day, it definitely needs looking at.

Install a Pedestrian Crossing & Double Yellow Lines at the bottom of Marlcliffe Road

No improvement of the view from the shop today.....looks like no work is going to happen for the second day in a row, so stuck with it till at least Tuesday!

Not a lot of parking outside the shop or the neighbouring roads, at least the weather's better today if you fancy walking down.

Food inflation is still too high - many households are struggling to put food on the table. Councillor Christine Gilligan Kubo will have a street surgery from 10.30 to 11.30 if you have any enquiries.

Saw these guys when they collaborated with a beer we had in the shop and had to get them in, and made in so still class as local produce.

Just their core range in at the minute but there are more to arrive with some really exciting collaborations.

Another amazing local producer landing in the shop Fula Flavour

Fula Flavour “Eat with an African Beat”

Fula Flavour is the creation of Hawa, originally from Guinea in West Africa, Hawa moved to these shores bringing with her delicious recipes and new flavours that will truly make your taste buds dance to that African beat.

It all started from missing home and the wonderful chilli sauce she used to have with almost everything when growing up. Unfortunately, once in the UK she could not find anything like it in the market so she had to do something about it!

A long with our usual collection of amazing cheeses, these 2 are well worth a mention.

Sharpham Rustic with Dulse & Sea Lettuce - is a fresh, rich and crumbly cheese laced with gems of locally hand-harvested seaweed. The addition of seaweed gives a subtle, savoury, umami finish to the classic Sharpham Rustic.

Ashcombe - Inspired by the classic French cheese Morbier, but made in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds. Ashcombe is a smooth and supple cheese, with a striking line of ash running through the middle. Rich notes of hazelnuts, while the rind can offer more savoury tones.

Both are superb 👌
