Blanco Sobre Lias, Care

50% Chardonnay, 50% Garnacha Blanca

This a still white wine from Cariñena (CARE is a manifestation of the old Roman word for the region Cariñena) in Spain, this region is amongst the oldest protected areas in Europe.

The wine is refreshing and hugely benefits from time spent on the lees for the added extra texture, overall, its very balanced and appealing wine that can be drunk on its own or would work perfectly with a Mediterranean red snapper dish.

On the palate …………………………… well we can’t give to much away we shall just have look forward to the wine tasting night.

From Ken Forrester, the 'King of Chenin', the flagship FMC is rich, seductive and utterly sophisticated. Layer upon layer of pineapple, candied lemon, dried apricot, ginger and vanilla, with touches of honey, spice and Crème Brûlée; effortlessly supported by gentle oak and lovely freshness.

2018 Meursault Blanc, Jean-Michel Gaunoux

This Meursault is ripe and tropical on the nose, while the honeyed mouth is never cloying, thanks to fine acidity and well-formed fruit. Sourced from hand tended vines exclusively from around the village of Meursault where grapes for some of the finest, and most expensive, wines in the world are grown.

2019 Beurrot Pinot Gris, Kooyong

A sensual, aromatic blend of ginger, spice and rose water on the nose, with apple, pear and a curl of lemon peel on the palate. The grapes were gently whole-bunch pressed into old French oak barriques, where fermentation occurred spontaneously with ambient yeasts. The maturation period is ten months on yeast lees.

Really happy to receive the Level 3 Award in Wines from today.

Many thanks to Katie from the for the delivery on an excellent course. My personal highlight was learning more about the Alsace region and the various natural influences. I now hope to make that a destination I visit very soon.

The course really helped me stay positive and focused during a difficult time.

I am now Looking forward to putting all the learning to good use and raising a nice glass this evening , while I contemplate the Diploma 🤔

I really enjoy drinking the wine and learning more about the regions and the influences this can have on the final style of the wine. Every day feels like a 📙📖🗺️school day so much to learn and enjoy about the wonderful world of wine.

For tonights sip I just had to go back for more for the wonderful Urlar Organic Sauvignon Blanc, it really is a beautifully balanced wine with lots of complexity and goes big on the nose and mouth, it really is an easy drinking wine.

Introducing our New Zealand Organic Sauvignon Blanc from Urlar, all of the wines we sell are personally hand selected from wines we have tasted. We pride ourselves on searching for wines that are not normally found on the supermarket shelves.

We are very excited to have this wine on our list. Urlar prides itself on producing premium wines that don’t cost the earth. The Vineyards can be located in the Gladstone region of Wairarapa.

Urlar – Meaning ‘THE EARTH’ in Gaelic – This defines their dedicated approach to Organic and Biodiversity practices.

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes were harvested and selected for their flavour and skin ripeness. Most of the grapes were fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve the pure fruit flavours in the wine, with a small proportion of the wine having gone through old oak barrel fermentation giving the wine greater complexity.

The wine is bright lemon green in colour with a crisp acidity and medium to full body. It has flavours of green apple, limes, gooseberry, honeydew melon and peach. It’s very moreish and has a long finish just teasing you to take another sip.

This wine can be enjoyed on its own but matches up perfectly with seafood or goats cheese.

This was it on show a few weeks ago for a test event for a private garden party for the opening match at England at the Euros.

In 1308 the Aktien Brewery of Kaufbeuren, along with it's cellars, courtyard and barns, was donated to the citizens of Kaufbeuren by Henry Twinger, a wealthy local Baron. To ensure only the highest quality beers, The Kaufbeuren Brewers Guild was formed in 1325 making a declaration that all beers produced in Kaufbeuren could only use the finest barley, hops, yeasts and the purest local waters. All other ingredients were banned. The Aktien Brewery was for evermore known for their superbly crafted beers.

ABK Hell Das Blaue was crowned World Beer of the Year and received Gold in the IPC blind tasting championship
This is a light, bright and very satisfying beer. Lightly golden with a bubbly, medium white head that steadily shrinks to a thin foamy lace, the aroma is soft and sweet with grain and very flowery hops.

The taste is full bodied grain with lots of green apple and light but persistent hints of pine and herbs, with a light bitterness that persists through to the finish. Eminently satisfying.

ABK Hefeweizen – Two time silver award at the London Beer Competition
Bavaria is famed for its Wheat Beers and this is particularly easy drinking and highly regarded.

A top fermented fruity, aromatic and lively, full-bodied beer. With a wonderful honey yellow colour and a strong foam generation. This wheat beer has a natural yeast cloudiness with a yeast sediment. Easy drinking with soft floral flavours.

2019 Saint Chinian, Domaine Du Barres - £10.00

This wine comes from the Languedoc-Roussillon region in the south of France. The wine is made using 70% of the Syrah grape variety which is also more commonly known with new world producers as Shiraz and 30% of the Grenache grape .

The combination of the blend is harmonious with the Syrah giving fresh notes of Mullbery and spice and a jammier texture coming from the Grenache this is a very youthful wine that is bold and packed with fresh fruit.

Wine Making
Akakies is the final blend of two winemaking techniques: 90% of the must undergoes skin contact and 10% comes from the bleeding off of juice fermenting for red wine. Grapes are kept in cold rooms to achieve temperatures between 11 and 14ºC. After destemming and crushing, skin contact takes place under CO2 atmosphere to avoid oxidisation for 12 to 48 hours depending on the grape quality. After fermentation the wine is aged on lees for 3 months with 3 times per week stirring to soften the natural acidity and increase opulency.

Food Matching
It can be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif or matched perfectly with roasted chicken, dishes based on salmon or tuna and vegetarian dishes of the Mediterranean or Asian cuisine.
