We love a good saison, with Sophie having grown up in the heart of saison country, round the corner from French legends Thiriez and with other farmhouse producers on the doorstep.
So when a UK producer such as brings some rustic saisons to the table we have to get involved.
Here we have two new releases, the first a collaboration with and the other a sessionable 4% grisette.

We are super excited to be a part of bringing Varvar Brewery's beers in to the UK from the Ukraine for the first time and you'll find no less than 20 beers in the store now covering an array of their styles!
This initiative, kicking off on the 25th March, was part of a plan to rescue roughly 45,000 pints of beer from Varvar Brew in Kyiv, which had to close down since the invasion. With alcohol sales forbidden in Ukraine the brewery was desperate to sell its stock to raise much-needed funds for food, medicine, to pay taxes and wages, and to support the country as a whole.
One of our suppliers Euroboozer stepped forward and, with much difficulty, organised for the first lorry to set off from Kyiv on the 31st March. The lorry passed the Ukraine border on the 4th April and safely arrived in the UK on Friday 8th April.
In addition to paying Varvar the full price for the stock (around €55,458.86 so far), all profits from the sale of the beer will go to www.drinkersforukraine.com which is raising money for humanitarian relief in Ukraine.

Our much anticipated CRAFT BEER TASTING at Chez Sophie in Shrewsbury is almost upon us!
Its been almost two years since we had a tasting here and this one sold out in 4 Days so we are super excited to share some great beer with everyone!
As is now traditional with our tastings all beers are kept a secret til the night, but I like to give a sneak peak of the beers the day before.
If you recognise the beer please don't comment below. Really looking forward to trying these 🍻🍻🍻
For those attending, please aim to arrive between 7 - 7:30pm (ideally not everyone arriving at 7:28pm!).. But earlier you arrive the more time you have to enjoy a beer beforehand.
We will start as soon as everyone is present, and finish around 10 - 10:30pm.
Background music will be from albums released in 1991 to celebrate their 30th anniversary 🎶🎂
Oh, and before I forget some new beer will appear on the site this weekend!

Our beer tasting at Chez Sophie is now SOLD OUT! Thanks to everyone who got in quick for tickets. This promises to be a great night with some fantastic beer and excellent music.

Mikkeller in da house 🏡! We got Hop Opera, a big old hazy 9% DIPA originally conceived and developed at Mikkeller's San Diego brewpub as 'Freddie Murkury' but can't call it that anymore. Now brewed at To Ol City in Denmark. Then we have Riesling People, a 6.7% IPA brewed with Riesling grape juice from Mikkeller's vineyards. And finally one that's taken ages to track down, Mikkeller's collaboration with Belgian lambic supremo Frank Boon, consisting of a blend of mostly 2 year old lambic, aged in foeders previously used for white vermouth, with some 1 year old for refermentation and a touch of 3 year old.
