Quick one from us to say a colossal thank you to everyone who came down this week to see us. It’s been a pleasure being here over the last 3 and a half years. We’ve met a lot of sound people and made lots of new pals. We’re eternally grateful for all your support and for being part of our thing here on Bonnington Road. Wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.

We’ll be about this afternoon for a few hours if you missed out on any last wines (there ain’t much left) or if you just wanted to say hi.

Stick with us on here for any potential happenings over the summer 👀

Enjoy the rest of the long weekend ✌🏼 💚🖤

A little bit of news from us here in our rainy corner of Leith…

We have taken the decision towards the end of last year to sell up and move on from Mistral. Not a decision we took lightly but essentially boiling down to where we want to be and what we want to be doing at this point in our lives, which we decided isn’t here on Bonnington Road (or the U.K. at all in fact!)

So Saturday the 30th of March will be our last shift here before a new custodian takes over and does their thing (it’s in safe hands don’t worry, thanks to )

Lots of time to say farewell in person over the coming weeks, but if we don’t get the chance to, then we want to extend a colossal thank you to everyone and anyone who has come through our doors. We’ve enjoyed our time here immensely and are proud of what we have created here, none of which would’ve been possible without great guests and loyal locals, who we will sorely miss.

So there you have it. 6 or so weeks to go, we hope to see some friendly folk in that time. Big love ✌🏼💚

Good fun hosting Eric Texier at the bar this afternoon with

Lucky to get an insight into the ever more challenging task of producing wines in a respectful way towards this particular terroir and how the region has changed over his time growing there.

Not to mention the 8 stellar wines on show as well!

Just a couple of days left of the year, before we take a short breather to ease ourselves in to 2024 and whatever it holds, for us all!

We’re open as normal today, then tomorrow we’ll open slightly later, at 1pm, to accommodate our later closing time.

Looking like it’ll be nice and full tomorrow night, but we’re always able to squeeze in a few more somewhere if you fancy joining the fun.

We’ll have lots of bubbles open and some special stuff by the glass. Plus lots of bottles big and small if you’re in with a hefty group.

If we don’t see you, we’d like to offer our thanks once more to everyone who’s made it down or ordered online this year. We appreciate it every time 😘

All the best! ✌🏼

Hailing from the Isère region of south-east France (Just like Julie), Saint Marcellin is a soft, gooey cows milk cheese with bags of flavour.

Originating from Dauphiné, the cheese began to appear on market stalls in the town of Saint-Marcellin, from where it quickly inherited it’s name, and as its reputation grew it spread throughout the region, into Lyon and beyond!

With a distinctive, ‘wrinkly’ rind, it offers lots of creamy, nutty and fruity notes from its gooey centre. Absolutely perfect on crusty baguette, another treat for the colder months.

Just got another tray of these in so still rolling if you fancy giving it a go ✌🏼

As the foliage begins to perish around us and the days get shorter, we’re adding some more autumnal offerings to the mix.

Starting with our go at an Affinity, a scotch and vermouth based classic from the early 1900s that can easily be tailored for the modern ages.

We’ve gone with some

- ‘Homemade’ which offers up bold sweet sherry notes
- Noilly Prat
- Cocchi Vermouth Amaro (gotta squeeze in some Amaro)
- Noix de la Saint Jean walnut vermouth for a bit of warming spice

A dash of angostura and some orange peel and you’re off and running.

Helping to embrace the wintery transition. ✌🏼

🍇Tasting with Mick Craven🍇

We’re extremely excited to have Mick Craven in town all the way from South Africa, for a tasting here on Bonnington Road on Friday 6th October.

Mick and his wife Jeanine started their project in 2014 and make a range of site specific bottlings from a number of locations in Stellenbosch.

Not only are the wines obscenely good value for money, they also have their own identity and character, reflective of their specific site. So this is a fantastic opportunity to try through the range and get a whole host of chat from the winemaker himself.

Mick will pour through 5 wines and we will provide some snacks for the table to accompany the wine and stellar patter.

The tasting will run from 6pm - 8pm and tickets are £40 per person, which can be purchased from our website in limited numbers.

We’ll also have the wines on by the glass if you’re unable to snag a ticket, so plenty of opportunity to sample his wares if you miss out! ✌🏼

Brand new on the slicer from the heart of Tuscany is this full-flavoured Salame Toscana.

Riccardo, Valerio and Leonardo Rosati let their rare breed Cinta Senese pigs roam free over their 55 hectare farm, a stones throw from Montepulciano (The family also make olive oil and wine, but we’re strictly after the meat goods this time).

The intense flavour is enhanced through the animals diet of wild berries, acorns and other natural morsels they find on their travels.

Back fat is mixed in with only the leanest cuts and finished with lots of garlic and black pepper.

Get down and give it a try ✌🏼

Received a couple of nice random bits today that we’ve been waiting on for a couple of weeks. Online and on the shelf/list already, getting faster at that..

We’re expecting some more odds and ends over the coming weeks which we’re excited about. Including a decent sized Jura drop sometime next month. ✌🏼
