There are a lot of unknown for international market Georgian grapes and Khikhvi is one of them. This is a truly unique grape that belongs to Georgia and classical Georgian winemaking. Khikhvi is used for both European and Qvevri wines with tones of ripe or yellow dried fruit. The majority of the wines produced from Khikhvi are dessert wines, such as the one made by Tsinandali Estate.

Natella is one of those unique white wines that is produced exclusively by Tsinandali Estate in limited quantities. Wine is rich in flavors of white fleshed fruits characterized with frisky aftertaste. Natella’s distinctive taste is created by the blend of five Georgian white grapes: Mtsvane, Kisi, Khikhvi, Tsolikouri and Tetra.

Tsinandali is made from Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane grapes and comes from the Telavi and Kvareli area of Kakheti. Tsinandali is fermented at cool temperatures and matured for two to three years to bring out the complexity. Tsinandali can be aged for a further five, adopting some nutty bottle-aged characters in the process. It has a pale golden color and a light body. The flavor is light, with a moderate finish.

Tsinandali Estate’s Sophia, which is blend of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli will expand your knowledge of traditional Georgian grapes. These two red grapes originate and continue to thrive on the sunny, southern, calcareous slopes of the Caucasus Mountains in the region of Racha in western Georgia. Frequently blended together, Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli result in classical dry red, as well as naturally semi-sweet wines such as Khvanchkara.

Contrary to popular belief, the amazing portuguese ‘vinho verde’ does not suggest that the wine is green.
